Dyfed-Powys Police have arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with a serious assault in Kilgetty, which occurred in the early hours of Sunday, January 22.
The 28-year-old male victim was attacked in the Ryelands Lane area of Kilgetty, and in the vicinity of Kilgetty Railway Station, between 2 and 7 am.
Following the arrest, police have highlighted that it is vitally important that they hear from witnesses who may have significant information.
Detective Chief Inspector Shane Williams said: "This was a particularly vicious assault and the victim is recovering with support from Police and other agencies.
"I am appealing for anyone who was in Kilgetty, specifically in the vicinity of the Chip Shop and Ryelands Lane at the time, to contact police.
"I'm also urging anyone who may have witnessed the assault, or heard about the incident from family or friends to contact Dyfed-Powys Police immediately on 101."
Dyfed-Powys Police would like to reassure the public that incidents of this nature are rare in Pembrokeshire and an incident room has been set-up at Haverfordwest Police Station.

Lawrence James Goldsworthy, of Cresselly, was remanded into custody to appear at Swansea Crown Court on February 7.
