A 35-year-old man was fined £50 by magistrates this week after he slapped his ex-girlfriend during an argument.
Hotel handyman, Steven Daniel Cole, of 53 Heywood Court, admitted assaulting Melinda Wilson by beating when he appeared before magistrates sitting in the town on Tuesday.
Crown prosecutor, Mr. Ieuan Jenkins, told the bench that Cole had been in conversation with Miss Wilson after she had asked him to look after their young son.
However, an argument developed and Cole lost his temper, resulting in him slapping Miss Wilson across the face. Her glasses buckled and she sustained bruising to her left eyelid, the court heard.
As well as the fine, Cole was ordered to pay compensation of £50 to Miss Wilson and £50 costs to the prosecution.
