A Pembroke Dock man has been cautioned by police after unlawfully snatching his dog from the kennels where it was impounded.

The 20-year-old failed to pay the fee of £25 plus kennel costs when he seized the animal from the kennels at Broad Lane, Lawrenny.

The dog had been collected and impounded as a stray from the Pennar area of Pembroke Dock by Pembrokeshire County Council dog wardens last week. Later the same day the man took the animal from the kennels without making a payment.

According to the law, once seized, the dog is the legal possession of the council and is not legally released until payment is made.

Working with the authority, police arrested the man two days later and he was bailed to appear at Pembroke Dock police station, where he was formally cautioned.
