Local veteran servicemen have received their Pingat Jasa Malaysian medal for service during the Malaya Emergency and the Borneo Confrontation. To celebrate their 50th Merderka of independence, His Majesty the Agon and Government of Malaysia awarded all servicemen and women the high award of the Pingat Jasa Malaysian medal. If you served in Malaya or Borneo in HM armed forces or the Malayan police - perhaps you were there with the Peace Corps - and would like to join the National Malaya and Borneo Veterans Association, Carmarthen and West Wales branch, please phone the secretary, Terence Warner, on 01834 814148n or email: terencemarinesw@aol. com. The association meet every third Tuesday of the month at the Tavern Tanerdy, formerly The Welsh Guardsman, Carmarthen.
