The Friends of the East Williamston Jubilee Park have had another busy morning's work in the Park and a team of 15 people, of all ages, had a great time.

The 18 acres in the village of East Williamston is an area which includes a play area, as well as an extensive nature trail, with all manner of wildlife encouraged.

The area is popular with both locals and those from further afield who come to walk dogs or enjoy the open areas and play area as well as the natural environment in the park.

At the recent work party, some toads were rescued from the cut grass and put to safety.

Path repair is an important job which the Friends undertake and as the autumn comes on it is clear that there are lots of other jobs to do.

By cutting back the blackthorn and also cutting and raking some areas of grass, the wild flowers can be encouraged.

If you'd like to get involved in protecting and developing this valuable community resource, you can go along on November 2 at about 2.30 pm for a couple a hours sociable work.

All tools are provided, but you would need to have good footwear as some jobs can be a bit muddy or wet.
