Tenby's bandstand looks set to have a makeover after the town council requested that it needed a spruce up before it deteriorated into a poorer condition.
Clr. Mike Evans told his colleagues at Tuesday evening's meeting of the town council that Mr. Glenville Codd, area maintenance manager for Pembrokeshire County Council, had carried out a survey on the bandstand that sits on Castle Hill.
"The county council are waiting on the results of the survey to judge what level of touching up the bandstand requires," said Clr. Evans.
"In such a prominent position the weather has obviously taken its toll on it over the years," remarked Deputy Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Tish Rossiter, who chaired the meeting in the Mayor's absence.
However, Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown felt that more use of the bandstand needed to be made.
"It's such a shame that the bandstand can't be utilised for what its sole purpose is, to have music there.
"I know that bands have tried to use it in the past, but locals in the area complained of the noise and that the music wasn't suitable.
"Maybe we could look into using it as some kind of centre piece for next year's Tenby in Bloom event," suggested Clr. Mrs. Brown.
