The Quins' five-match unbeaten run came to an end on Saturday, thanks mainly to a mad two minutes just before the half-time interval.
The Quins got off to a strong start and were soon on the attack against the league's high fliers, with the home side's scrum, as it has been in recent weeks, on top straight from the start, forcing a penalty which Neil Brace slotted with ease.
With the Quins still in the ascendancy, it was not long before number eight Gareth Scourfield forced his way over for their first try, which was converted by Brace, to put the home side 10-0 to the the good.
But the Uplands are not at the top echelons of the league for nothing, and their dangerous backs were starting to give the Quins real problems, with only some last-ditch tackling keeping them out.
The Quins soon conceded a penalty in front of the posts, which outside-half Tom Edmunds converted to keep the visitors in touch.
With their tails up, the away team were soon back on the attack and with Quins' supporters hoping for the half-time whistle, the visitors punished the hosts with 14 points in just a few minutes.
First, right wing Alex Withers outflanked the Quins' defence to stroll over unopposed in the corner, and then virtually from the restart the visitors struck again after an horrendous mix-up in the Quins defence allowed scrum-half James Edmunds to touch down beneath the posts.
Both tries were converted by Tom Edmunds to send the visitors in 17-10 up at half-time.
The second half started with some stubborn Quins defending keeping the visitors at bay, but it was not long before the hosts started to come more into the game, mainly due to the scrum becoming more dominant, and when flanker Phil Hughes crashed his way over for an unconverted try with 15 minutes left to pull the score back to 17-15, it looked odds on a home win.
With five minutes left and the Quins on the attack, they conceded a penalty, though, which enabled the visitors to clear their lines, and a try soon resulted for Tom Edmunds, who converted it himself, to see Swansea take the win and rob the Quins of a losing bonus point, which many thought they deserved.
