On Saturday, March 24, local charity, the Thorne Mason Trust, held a Mad Hatter’s tea party and cake auction at Crundale Community Centre.
The event was organised as part of national brain tumour awareness month, aiming to raise awareness of brain tumours within the local community and raise funds to support anyone in Pembrokeshire affected by a brain tumour or cancer.
It was opened by local band, Samba Doc, followed by an afternoon of tea and homemade cakes, which were enjoyed by all. During the tea party, there was also a hat-making workshop for children, hat photo booth, cake auction and raffle.
The event proved to be very successful, raising the fantastic sum of £771.35.
Everyone involved also got in the Mad Hatter’s spirit by wearing a selection of weird and wonderful hats to the event.
The organisers would like to thank all of the supporters, volunteers, cake makers, Adrian Jones, auctioneer, and Samba Doc for helping them make the event a great success.
The Thorne Mason Trust is a Pembrokeshire based charity which was set up by Mike Mason in 2009, following his diagnosis with a brain tumour.
The charity offers complementary brain tumour and cancer support services to anyone in Pembrokeshire affected by a brain tumour or cancer and is currently sponsoring a PHD student at Cardiff University to carry out research into glioblastoma multiforme brain tumours.
