Dawn and Graham Howells, with the help and support of family and friends, recently held a coffee morning at the Begelly Arms Hotel for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The coffee morning was held on Saturday, October 22, and raised the fantastic amount of £2,619.22 for Macmillan. The organisation has offered support to Dawn and her family since she was diagnosed with terminal cancer in March 2015, and as a result Dawn wanted to give something back.

“The support from the local community was absolutely amazing, we would like to thank everyone who helped on the day, made cakes, donated and attended, making it a very special and successful occasion,” they said.

“Special thanks to our amazing family and friends, Natalie Webster, Gwenda and Bryan Mason, Veronica and Danny Howells, Jan and Richard Roberts, Mary and Roger Sheldon, Gill Cope, Angie Jones, Karen Webster, Beryl Byrne and Wendy Devonald, for giving up their time to run the many stalls, which included cake, bric-a-brac, tombola, plants, buy a name, guess the spots on the cake and our fantastic raffle with prizes donated from local individuals and businesses for which we are very grateful and thank everyone for their kindness and generosity.

“As well as all of the stalls, the many people who attended on the day were offered tea/coffee, sandwiches, sausage rolls, cakes and biscuits for lunch, making it a very enjoyable social event.

“Our final massive thank you to Peter and Jacqui Adams and their staff at the Begelly Arms for allowing us to use the room to host our event, for supplying all the tea and coffee and for making extra plates of sandwiches when we ran out; their help and support was fantastic, and we are forever grateful.”

The cheque was presented to Monica Vanner and Auriol Scourfield from Macmillan, who were very grateful for this tremendous fundraising effort. All funds will be used to support people in Pembrokeshire suffering with cancer.

This was Dawn and Graham’s third fundraiser for Macmillan in just over 12 months, bringing their overall total raised to just over £4,500.

“Once again thanks to everyone for your support, it has been overwhelming.

“Watch this space for our next fundraising event.”
