At their monthly meeting held at South Pembrokeshire Hospital last Tuesday, the members of the Pembroke Committee for Macmillan Cancer Relief were advised that the sum raised by recent collections at local Tesco Stores were Cardigan £909.87; Milford Haven £646.25 and Pembroke Dock £1,418.45, making a grand total of £2,974.57, all of which goes to the work of Macmillan Cancer Relief in this area. Gratitude goes to Tescos for allowing the collections on their premises.

It was also reported that president Dilys Hanmer had been short-listed for the prestigious Beacon Prize, awarded by the Beacon Fellowship Charitable Trust for a lifetime devoted to charitable works. Out of 800 entries from all over the United Kingdom, Mrs. Hanmer has been awarded a Highly Commended Certificate. Congratulations were offered to her by the committee which she founded and which contributes so much to the local community.

Arrangements were finalised for the annual Pudding Night which is to take place at Pater Hall today (Friday). Doors open at 6.30 pm. Tickets price £7.50 can be obtained from committee members or by 'phoning (01646) 684618.
