Over 20 horses and ponies recently took part in the first ever sponsored horse and pony ride in Ludchurch. The event was organised to raise money to fund this year's Ludchurch Horse and Pony Show, due to take place on July 20.

In the morning, 11 young riders, some led, took to the road with much enthusiasm and energy to complete the 2.5 mile route. The weather remained kind for the senior ride in the afternoon and eight riders completed a route of over six miles.

Thanks must be given to everyone who took part, including the sponsors whose support helped to make the day a great success and secure the future of the annual horse show.

The grand total of £245 was raised on the day and it is hoped that this ride will also become an annual event.
