A young girl from Kilgetty has been given a trendy new haircut this week from one of the top stylists in the business - and all for a worthwhile cause.

Lucy Marklew, of Ferndale, Station Road, Kilgetty, has had her extra long locks snipped by expert Andrew Price at his Tenby salon, so that her hair can be sent off to a company in China that makes wigs especially designed for children all over the world for the 'Little Princesses Trust'.

The trust is a charity that provides wigs and hair pieces for children who have suffered hair loss due to cancer treatment or through other illnesses.

As well as being sponsored by Andrew Price, 10-year-old Lucy, who is a pupil at Stepaside School, has also raised over £250 for the 'Little Princesses Trust' through kind donations.

Two years ago, Lucy committed to growing her hair for the cause after being moved by the heartache caused to a relative of hers who lost her hair through illness.

As an added touch, Lucy also had pink streaks dyed into her hair to show her support for Breast Cancer UK, while her hair to be sent off has been packed into a pink gift box.

Lucy and all her family would like to thank everyone who has donated to the cause and especially Andrew Price and his Tenby team.
