Lucy Bulkeley, of Carew Farm, Bosherston, last week headed to Antarctica to take part in the final race of the 4 Desert Ultramarathon Series.

She has already completed the Atacama Crossing, Gobi March and Sahara Desert this year, and is aiming to be the first woman to complete all four of these tough endurance races in one year.

The races are over 160 miles of tough terrain, over six days, carrying all your own equipment and food. Only tent space and hot water is provided at overnight stages.

Lucy is doing this to raise much-needed funds for Macmillan Cancer Support in memory of her father Lt. Col. Johnny Bulkeley, who died in August 2007.

All funds raised are being channelled into the Macmillan South West Wales Appeal. So please help her raise as much as she possibly can.

When Lucy started out on this challenge, her aim was to raise a minimum of £25,000 - the total is now in excess of £30,000.
