TENBY LADIES 1
MILFORD 0
Tenby Ladies hockey team started the first-half of this match running against the wind and immediately putting pressure on the Milford defence, with Mandy missing the goal from a short corner, and Lucy also just failing shortly after.
As Milford attacked, the Tenby defence of Jean, Ruth and Michelle proved too strong and they safely cleared a short corner.
After another attack by Milford, a second shot came close, but was once again cleared.
Tenby put pressure on the Milford goal, with Ali, Mandy and Barney all going close. Finally, Julie crossed in a strong pass to Lucy, who swept the ball into the back of the goal to open the scoring.
Good blocks and interceptions by Jean and Ruth on the right side and in the middle prevented Milford crossing the ball anywhere near the goal.
Miz and Lucy worked well bringing the ball up the left-hand side of the pitch and producing crosses which were unfortunately cleared.
The second-half started well, with Jean making some important tackles and Ali running up the field and only just missing with a strong strike.
Barney and Kate worked well together down the right wing, producing a chance for Kate, who narrowly missed.
More hard work by Ali gave her another opportunity on goal, but this was saved well by the Milford 'keeper.
More Tenby pressure resulted in several short corners, with Julie, Ali, Miz, Barney and Kate all battling against the Milford defence to get a shot in.
At the other end, Milford had another attempt which went just wide, while Tenby 'keeper Annie made an excellent save.
Last minute pressure by Milford resulted in a short corner which was once again cleared by the defence and pushed up field to the forwards of Kate, Ali and Lucy, who were backed up well by Julie, Barney, Mandy and Anna.
Tenby kept up the pressure to the final whistle and were unlucky not to score more.
