Pembrokeshire County Council has set the lowest council tax in Wales for the fourth year running. Councillors have set the Band D council tax at £590.93 - an increase of 3.85 per cent. The average Band D council tax in Wales next year will be over £800, with an average national increase of 4.4 per cent. Clr. John Davies, council leader, said: "I have repeatedly said that this really is the council where our customers get more for less. "By every standard, this council is performing well. "In fact, in the words of our external assessors, the Wales Audit Office, Pembrokeshire County Council is performing very well. "This is not an accolade often offered by the auditors." The council tax demands will also contain the sums of money collected by the council on behalf of Dyfed Powys Police and community and town councils throughout Pembrokeshire.
