A letter from a holidaymaker praising a recent trip to Tenby has been given the thumbs up by local councillors.

“I previously wrote to the Mayor, with everything being positive - the complete absence of silly regulations - speed humps, warning signs, speed cameras and so on, and all the council’s cash instead being spent on the character, the historical buildings, the maintenance and the absolute cleanliness of all the streets, and the beaches, of course. This time? Twice as good!” wrote Jacqueline Currell, of Chesterfield, in a letter that came before members of Tenby Town Council at their meeting on Tuesday.

“Every morning I took my dog down the beach at 7.30 am, accompanied by litter-pickers, road-sweepers and even someone with a blower, flushing the sand off the steep steps, safety for us all.

“The gardens on the cliffside are staggering, especially at this time of year, and the shops in all the streets - a lovely intelligent, mixture of smart and easy places and cute and characterful historic outlets,” she continued.

Deputy Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane commented that it was welcoming to receive such a nice letter, rather than one with any “negative vibes”.
