With St Valentine's Day approaching, romantic thoughts filled the air at a recent meeting of the Holyland Wood Project in Pembroke when members agreed to organise Love a Tree Day to mark the start of the woodland work. The Holyland Wood Project has grown out of a successful funding bid to CydCoed -Woods for All by Pembroke 21C Community Association who work with and for the community on a variety of projects to enhance and regenerate Pembroke. As part of the Love a Tree Day activities tomorrow (Saturday), volunteers will be able to help transplant saplings and put up bat boxes. If you want to take part, please meet at Kingsbridge at 10.30 am. Wear suitable clothing and footwear and bring your own refreshments. Equipment and training will be provided. Nearly £150,000 was awarded to the Holyland Wood Project which will be used to open up the woods; to enhance biodiversity and provide access for locals and visitors to enjoy the countryside - right next to the town centre.
