The Formula 1 Lotus Judd 101/3 which made its debut at the 1989 Brazilian Grand Prix in the hands of former world champion Nelson Piquet will be on show at Cresselly Country House on Saturday, July 23, from 10.30 am to 3.30 pm.

Team Lotus, whose CEO and team principal was the late Colin Chapman, achieved sixth place in the 1989 world championship season with the normally aspirated CV 32 Valve V8 engined car which followed on from the 1500 cc Turbocharged era of the previous season.

After the 101/3s debut in Brazil, it was handed to the teams No.2 driver Satoru Nakajima, of Japan, but the Lotus failed to keep pace with the McLaren and Ferrari for whom the Goodyear Tyres had been specifically deigned for.

The Judd engine which produced in excess of 600bhp and was linked to a six speed manual gearbox did however set the fastest lap in the 1989 Australian Grand Prix.

In 1990, the Lotus 101/3 of which only four 101s were built was sold by Team Lotus to a private collector.

In January 2010, it was purchased by the current owner who has restored the car to its former pristine condition and now races the car at heritage events.
