Rotarians and friends from clubs in Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire recently supported a Gala Dinner, which was held at the Ivy Bush Royal Hotel, Carmarthen, where the guest speaker was The Right Honourable Lord John Morris of Aberavon, KG, PC, QC, who was accompanied by Lady Margaret Morris. Lord Morris's subject was 'The Honours System and Carmarthen's Connection with the Garter', which proved to be extremely interesting and the audience were very much enlightened by the information given, in a most entertaining way, with reference to the historical nature of the introduction of awards through the ages. The vote of thanks was given by president-elect, Eirwen Williams, who recalled the illustrious careers that Lord Morris had experienced in politics and the law and mentioned the high esteem in which he and Lady Margaret were both held in Wales particularly, but also in the United Kingdom generally, for their sterling work over many years.
