AT the special Festival of Pembroke Concert on Saturday, held in Tabernacle Chapel, Mr. David Gwynn, the conductor of the Pembroke and District Male Voice Choir, was presented with an engraved goblet to mark his 25 years of service. Mr. Gwynn is a man of Essex, but with Welsh forebears and came to Pembrokeshire 26 years ago to take up a position in local government service and became a member of the bass section of the choir under the conductorship in those days of the much respected W. P. Lewis. David Gwynn in time became deputy conductor, and on the sad death of 'The Boss', as W. P. Lewis was affectionately called by his choristers, in August 1999, he became the choir leader. Mr. Frank Harries, choir chairman, in presenting the 'quarter of a century goblet' spoke of the choir's gratitude to David Gwynn for the way he had stepped into the breach in such a successful manner.
