MARKS and Spencer employee, Anne Thompson, has been rewarded for 25-years of long service in a special ceremony at the company's headquarters in London.

Anne, a food sales advisor at Marks and Spencer in Carmarthen, was presented with shares in the company by Marks and Spencer chairman, Luc Vandevelde and other members of the board.

The annual awards ceremony was attended by more than 200 staff from stores across the country.

Anne and her daughter, Susan Watkins, were then treated to a champagne reception and a night on the town, where they took in 'Mama Mia', the famous West End show.

"The customer service provided by staff in our stores across the country is first class, and we are always delighted by the loyalty our staff show to Marks and Spencer," said Mr. Vandevelde.

"The awards ceremony is our way of thanking them for the many years of hard-work and dedication they have given."

Anne, who lives in Llanteg, said: "I have thoroughly enjoyed working at Marks and Spencer and have built up many valuable friendships over the years. I've worked at Carmarthen Marks and Spencer for the past 13 years after moving here from the Birmingham City Centre store.

"During my time here I've seen many changes, most recently the Café Revive which came to Carmarthen last year, and is a fantastic addition to the store."
