LONG-SERVING employees of Pembrokeshire County Council have been recognised for their work for local government. In the first of a number of receptions to congratulate people who have served more than 25 years, the chairman of the authority, Clr. Bill Roberts, praised their long and dedicated service. "It is astounding to think that individually, you have all served between 38 and 49 years in local government. That is some achievement," he said. "It is people like yourselves who bring the personal, human touch to local authorities. "Without you, councils would become faceless, anonymous bureaucracies, unfriendly and uncaring, and I believe it only right and proper that we should recognise your expertise, loyalty and years of service in this small way." The employees all started with the old Pembrokeshire County Council. On reorganisation in 1974, they moved to either Dyfed County Council or the district councils of Preseli Pembrokeshire or South Pembrokeshire, before completing the circle and returning to the current Pembrokeshire authority in 1996.
