A two-night stay in London for Year 6 children of Tenby Junior School has once again proven to be a real highlight of their final year at the school!
London Eye
(by Becca Luly)
We went on the London Eye on the second day of our London experience. As we went up, everyone was taking photos of the view as you could see the whole of London from our capsules. The best part of the London Eye was when we reached the top. We could see everything from the top like Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, St. Paul's Cathedral, Downing Street, Nelson's Column, Wembley Arch and much, much more. The views were amazing. We were right above the River Thames and we could see all the boats in the river. As we got closer to the bottom, we had our photo taken and most of us bought them to remember our visit on the London Eye.
House of Lords
and Commons
(By Tiah Culleton)
On the Wednesday, we went to the House of Lords and House of Commons for a guided tour. When we first got there we had to be scanned, have our belongings scanned and had to have a card round our necks so the workers knew we were on tour. On the way into the House of Lords, there were fantastic paintings of battles, kings and queens and Henry VIII's wives. The House of Lords was beautiful with lots of gold, which was quite different to the plain looking House of Commons. We went into the House of Commons where the Prime Minister and other parties meet to argue and discuss things about Britain. In that room there were loads of microphones hanging from the ceiling. On the whole, it was an interesting tour with lovely paintings and statues and some fantastic history!
Madame Tussauds
(by Natty John and Adam Davidson)
If you ever go to London, you have to go to Madame Tussauds. It is a great place with lots of different celebrities made out of wax. It has great activities and even a ride through the History of Britain. You can go in the Big Brother room where you can play around as it is sound-proofed. Also, there was a penalty shootout where there was a computerised target for you to shoot at. We also saw the Queen and we saw Henry VIII, the Jonas brothers, Barack Obama, Wayne Rooney, David Beckham and lots more famous people. We also saw Andy Roddick, the tennis player, and Gordon Brown
Our favorite part of the visit was when we were on the History of Britain ride. We saw the fire of London, the effect of World War 2 and Sir Christopher Wren's work on St. Paul's Cathedral. It was great and wonderful experience. After that we went to the shop which had a lot of good souvenirs!
The Lion King and Joseph
(by Toni-Leigh Dagg and Lily Phillips)
I would advise you to book your tickets now for The Lion King and Joseph! They were amazing. The costumes were wonderful and the music was live and perfect. Simba was a wonderful actor, young and old; in fact all of the actors were wonderful. We thought that The Lion King was the brilliant because it was very colourful and the music was very calming and soothing, and the costumes were actual puppets. All of us couldn't take our eyes off the stage, there was always something going on, such as, animals walking down the aisle, brilliant songs and wonderful dances.
And Joseph was even better - well that's what we say. The reason we like Joseph was because Joseph was played by Gareth Gates. In Joseph, it was all singing and dancing, but it was really, really fantastic!
Joseph
(by Bethan Griffiths and Chloe Riley)
Joseph mmm...what can we say about it, well we can honestly say that it was heart melting watching Gareth Gates. We nearly fell on the floor in love with him! He was a very talented actor and singer. The music and costumes were so extremely colourful - so amazing that we were jumping in our seats! The theatre was near Piccadilly Circus in the centre of London so we saw all the bright lights of the busy city. It was very memorable. I recommend that you buy a ticket now if you haven't already seen it.
