The Pembrokeshire Hunt Show, held as usual at Kilbarth Farm, near Haverfordwest, on Sunday, attracted excellent support and very good entries in all sections. The ground conditions were surprisingly good on what has become widely known as the Hunt Show fields and a couple of heavy showers during the morning failed to dampen the enthusiasm of all concerned. The day-long programme included the judging of hunters, cobs and ponies, both in hand and under saddle, a range of novelty classes, the ever popular gymkhana together with two rings of continuous show jumping, a parade of the Pembrokeshire hounds and a keenly contested companion dog show. The secretary, Mrs. Jill John, expressed the most grateful thanks of her committee to Birt and Jill Llewellin for again making the site available and to all the very many sponsors who had again so generously contributed to making this hugely successful event possible. Taking supreme in the showing classes was local breeder Leo Bowen with Smallland Hot Spot, the mini-champion in the Show Pony classes, splendidly ridden by his daughter, Nicole. Placed in reserve was Alice Viles with her winning Hunter, Bachas. Championship awards: Hunter, in hand - Lorna Wilkins; under saddle - Alice Viles. Side-saddle - Isabel Harries.
