A local Cardiff Metropolitan University Masters student is celebrating after being selected to display artwork at a contemporary art and sculpture exhibition in London.

Lisa Evans, who is originally from Pembrokeshire and is currently studying towards a masters in fine arts at Cardiff School of Art and Design, has been selected to display a number of art pieces at a water-themed exhibition entitled ‘Nautical Perspectives’ at London’s St. Katharine’s Docks.

Over the next two weeks, Lisa, who was born in Haverfordwest, but later moved to Pembroke Dock, will be showcasing three separate pieces that explore object, space and scale; the dialogue between materials and the sensation of physical movement. All art sculptures have been made out of materials that have a nautical feel and aesthetic, including foam, steel, buoys and rope.

The exhibition is presented and curated by Plastic Propaganda - an organisation of artists re-exploring Modernism within contemporary Fine Art - and aims to explore the history of artistic inspiration drawn from the sea.

All three of the pieces that Lisa submitted for the exhibition were selected.

Other artists from around the UK will also be showcasing their artwork at the show.

Speaking about the exhibition, Lisa said: “I am delighted to have been chosen to exhibit. This is the first time I have exhibited in London and I am grateful for the opportunity to showcase my art while also working with a range of other artists from across the UK.”
