Pendine beat the weather gods for the second time in three weeks over the weekend as they managed to dodge the frozen pitches across Pembrokeshire by playing away at Milford Athletic.

Unfortunately for them, the weather was the only thing they defeated as they ended up losing 6-2 after producing yet another Jekyll and Hyde performance.

Playing down the slope in the first half, they were able to take a 2-1 lead and looked to be heading into the interval a goal to the good, but the home side equalised just before the whistle blew to signal the end of the half.

The home side opened the scoring early on, yet the Gulls responded through an own goal and a Steve Jones score. Frank Roberts's young team looked on course to go into the second half ahead, but an equaliser by the home side put paid to the visitors' endeavour and flair.

The scores remained level for 20 minutes in the second half, but the killer blow came when the homesters scored to take the lead and from there on in, they were the dominant force. Two late goals flattered the scoreline in their favour, yet Roberts had no complaints about the result.

"It was the third goal that hit us. We were doing well until then, but once that went in our heads dropped a little.

"We were outgunned a little after that and slightly outbattled. They deserved the win, but we competed well in parts and showed what we can do, but in the end they were a little too strong."

No teams from St. Clears, Narberth, Tenby, Lawrenny, Manorbier, St. Florence or Kilgetty managed to play under the icy conditions that afflicted the county, and with rough weather forecast for the remainder of the week; more postponements could afflict the league programme before the season is out.
