The weather played havoc with the football programme in Pembrokeshire yet again this weekend with just a handful of matches going ahead.

The heavy rains that followed the earlier cold snap rendered most pitches as nothing but quagmires, leaving clubs with no choice but to postpone their matches.

The disruption to the league is not yet at crisis point. The early mid-week matches in August have given the organisers some grace at least; but those that organise the fixtures, take down the results and work out the tables won't be wishing for more inclement weather as the longer the disruption continues, the more problems it causes.

For the record, Kilgetty firsts managed a game as they travelled to Goodwick United for their division one clash. Phoenix Park may be one of the best grounds for drainage in the county, yet it's not a place to play if you're desperate for league points and this was the case for Norman James and his men on Saturday.

They lost 5-0 in a crushing display of football by the home side and as Christmas looms, the mid-way point in this year's campaign, Kilgetty remain rooted to the bottom.

Once again both teams from Narberth and St Clears, together with Pendine and Kilgetty's seconds, failed to go ahead as the weather took its toll.

With freezing weather forecasts yet again this week, the chances of more cancellations are high. With no fixtures pencilled in for the Christmas weekend, many teams will find they could have next to no football at all over the festive period, yet plenty to complete come the start of Spring.

Manorbier United entertained Herbrandston seconds in division three, but home advantage wasn't enough to give them something from the game as they went down 4-3.

The teams may have dished up a great feast of football, yet that is no consolation for the home side as the defeat keeps them rooted to the bottom of the division. James Hall with a brace of goals and Mike Brown with a solitary strike gave the home side hope of gaining some points, but the visitors just snuck it in the end.

There were no games for either Lawrenny side or Carew's two teams as they too fell foul of the elements, while both teams from Saundersfoot also had an enforced break as the cold snap struck for the second consecutive weekend.
