Kilgetty manager Andrew Cope admitted he was a far happier man this weekend than he was last week after witnessing his team beat Clarbeston Road away from home 3-2.

After losing to Carew the previous weekend, the Kilgetty boss said this result was much easier to take.

"I'm much happier today than last week. They're a good side and we went out there with an intent and hunger that wasn't there against Carew.

"The boys ran and ran and came off tired. It shows that it was a determined performance."

Kilgetty didn't get off to the best start having conceded a goal after 15 seconds which Cope described as 'freakish'. However, a determined effort by his team resulted in a goal by the outstanding Adam Johns after 15 minutes, with the youngster adding another before half-time.

Rhys Hewson, another youngster full of promise, gave Kilgetty a 3-1 lead midway through the second half, although this led to Clarbie reducing the deficit with 10 minutes to go and a frantic finale to the game.

Carew may have been cock-a-hoop after beating Kilgetty, although they would have realised that current leaders Hakin United would prove to be a different challenge altogether and so it proved, as they lost 6-1.

With Richard Bullock and Ian Sefton missing from the ranks, Carew were forced to make some changes and none of them had the experience of the missing pair.

Undeterred by this setback, the visitors to the Observatory produced a battling first half performance that saw them go into the break 2-1 down, having taken a first half lead through Joe Kidney, albeit against the run of play.

Hakin showed their class in the second, however, and scored a further four goals to dent any hopes of a memorable win, although Paul Bullock wasn't complaining.

"It was quite a good game actually and, although we fielded a young team, we played well, especially in the first half. We kept them at bay and there were encouraging signs.

"I can't complain with the way the boys played. They were up against a quality side and it showed in the end, although there was enough in our performance to suggest we can get better."

Narberth entertained Solva and ended up winning 3-1, with a performance that manager Nigel Thomas described as 'excellent.'

Ade Jones was outstanding for the Bluebirds and ran the show throughout the game, although Harry Allen stood out in front of goal, netting twice, once in the first half and again in the second. Morgan Preece added the third in a dominant display that pleased manager Thomas.

"It was a great all-round team performance. We deserved the win and showed what a great side we are," he said.

In Division Two, Manorbier United gave a better performance at home against Prendergast Villa, despite losing 7-3. Phil Kidney, Dave Blackwell and Jamie Robinson scored the goals for the home side.

Meanwhile, Tenby's promotion hopes took a dramatic turn for the good away at Milford United as they won 2-0. United are one of the front runners of the division, having secured the services of some experienced players during the close season and have reaped the benefits as a result.

Not put off by the quality in front of them, the Seasiders eased to a win, courtesy of goals from James Buckle and James Howes. Saundersfoot, in the meantime, lost 3-1 at home against Pendine.

In Division Three, Lawrenny travelled to Hundleton and lost 4-0 against the third-placed team in the league. Despite playing well against such organised opposition, they didn't create enough chances to secure anything from the game, with Neil Jolly describing it as a "good performance against a team that outplayed us, especially in the first half."

Shock result of the day was at St. Clears where the front runners lost 1-0 against Narberth. The Bluebirds may have been struggling in some games this season, but they were on top form on Saturday and thoroughly deserved their win.

"We played poorly and they played well," said Saints boss Charlie Smith. "Full credit to them, they deserved it. I got no complaints. We had a couple of chances, but Eddie Wiggins and Nathan Evans couldn't put them away. Maybe they were thinking too far ahead to next week's semi final."

Narberth scored midway through the second half thanks to a Nathan Evans strike, with the watching Steve Jones saying it was by far their best performance all season.

"We had a settled side at last and it showed. We dug deep, battled hard and everyone played their part, none more so than Mark O'Sullivan, who was our man-of-the-match."

In Division Four, Saundersfoot Sports' second team won 4-0 away at Camrose, while in the second leg of the Division Five Cup quarter-final, Lawrenny lost 4-1 at home against West Dragons and 10-1 on aggregate.

Finally, Tenby Seconds travelled to Haverfordwest Cricket Club and drew 1-1, Richard Jones scoring the visitors' goal.
