After last week's heroic victory over Herbrandston, Carew fell back to earth with a bump on Saturday with a 12-0 defeat away at Clarbeston Road. Given they secured their first win of the season last week they would have been forgiven for believing another victory was possible over Clarbie, yet the reality was oh so different.

In their defence, Carew are fielding such an inexperienced side at present that every game in the first division is going to be a tough, yet even veteran campaigners such as Paul Bullock found it difficult to draw many positives from this performance.

"We were awful," he said. "Last week we were great, but this week our inexperience told and we were dominated from the start. Everything they did went in the back of the net and I think they are the best we have come across all season, especially Adam Hawkins up front. He was on fire and totally ran us ragged."

Carew conceded five before the break and seven after, with three coming in the last 10 minutes, which, given the scoreline, must have seemed like an eternity before the referee blew up.

The surprise result of the weekend was at Narberth; not because the home side beat Kilgetty 2-1, but because the game went ahead at all. Whenever the rain pours in Pembrokeshire and games are postponed as a result, Narberth is often one of the first to be called off, but not this time and manager Nigel Thomas was delighted that it wasn't.

"We dominated from the start and didn't score enough goals really. We played really well and should have won 6-1."

His views weren't entirely shared by opposing manager Andrew Cope, however, as the visiting boss said they should only have put about four past them!

"It should have been beyond us at half-time," added Cope. "They were really impressive and we weren't and they deserved to win."

An Ade Jones goal gave Narberth the lead after 25 minutes and despite countless opportunities to score, the next goal didn't come until the 20th minute of the second half when Jordan Williams found the back of the net.

Nick Cope pulled one back for Kilgetty with five minutes to go, but there was no dream comeback for the guests as Narberth took the points.

In Division Two, Saundersfoot Sports travelled to Manorbier and defeated the home side 8-0. United only had the bare 11 before the start of play and even changed their 'keeper three times during the match as they strove to find the perfect balance to stifle their opponents.

It didn't happen as Jamie Morgan scored the first, Grant Hardy the second, while Danny Caine and Sam Reeves scored the third and fourth, respectively.

Danny Bates added the fifth after half-time, before Luke Travis, Morgan and Caine added the last two goals.

Tenby's march towards promotion continues to keep pace as they entertained Haverfordwest Cricket Club and won 4-0 with goals by Dean Rossiter, Darryl Mansbridge, James Buckle and Toby Smith.

In Division Three, Neil Jolly was in jovial mood after witnessing his team obliterate Pennar Robins' second team 8-1 away from home.

"Everyone played well. It was a great team performance," said Jolly. "We passed it around well, to such an extent that everyone wanted the ball, which was good to see. I'm delighted for the boys, they really deserved it."

James Phillips, the team's regular 'keeper grabbed the first goal with a fine header, before Mike Beynon showed his class to score twice before the break.

Beynon then added the next four gaols in the second half, before James Brown finished the game off with a wonderful finish at the end.

St. Clears show no signs of slipping up with their promotion bid as they walloped Prendergast Villa 6-3 at home. The only disappointing aspect of the game for manager Charlie Smith was the fact they conceded any goals in the first place.

"I think we got a little complacent in the second half and it was a shame to see them score three unanswered goals. It could have backfired on us, but we came back well to win."

Eddie Wiggins scored the first three, before Jason Baxter made it 4-0 just before the interval.

Villa then responded with three of their own, before the balance was restored in the home team's favour with strikes by Sam Thomas, who finished the game with a brace.

Narberth Seconds were embroiled in a titanic tussle at St. Florence, eventually winning 4-3.

Ashley Murdoch, with two, and John Mckay, with one, scored the goals for the home side, while Nathan Evans, Josh Layzell and Chris O'Connell, with two of his own, grabbed the glory for Narberth.

Finally, in Division Four, the only thing Carew Seconds had to show for their game against Herbrandston was a goal by James McKenzie after they lost 4-1 at home.
