After ending 2008 with a series of inconsistent results, Kilgetty have begun the New Year in explosive fashion by winning all their games.

After last week's victory in the Senior Cup over Letterston, it was back to league action for Andrew Cope and his men as they travelled to Neyland for a first division clash.

Of all the places to go when the wind is blowing a gale, Neyland is not one of them. Along with Solva, the elevated position adjacent to the funnelling effect of the Cleddau results in gale force winds even on the calmest of days, so to go there when the weather was not at its kindest and to finish with a 5-2 win, was a great result.

Playing with the elements at their backs for the first half, Kilgetty rushed into a 4-1 lead at half-time thanks to a trio of goals by Nick Cope and one by Wayne Scourfield, who got the ball rolling with a goal early in the game.

While the second half proved more problematic for the visiting team, they managed to concede just one more while scoring another of their own after Cope raced in to complete the game with four goals to his name.

It looks as though the run-in to the end of the season is going to be a long, arduous one for Carew after they lost 5-1 away at Pennar Robins, leaving the village club rooted to the foot of the table.

The only bright spot for Carew was an 18-yard strike by Sam Goodwin, but they were otherwise under the cosh from the start.

Manorbier United were in Division Two Cup action against Letterston, but couldn't emulate Kilgetty's feat a week previously as they went down 3-2 at home after extra-time.

Pendine were in cup action, too, but they suffered the consequences of playing the game with no subs as they finished with just eight men on the park. One of these was given the red card, but the others limped off injured.

The Gulls gave a good account of themselves in the first half as they went into the break tied at 1-1 after Craig Hurst had drawn the teams level.

Milford United then went into a 2-1 lead after scoring an early goal in the second half, before Justin Blewitt received his marching orders for a second bookable offence. Throw two injured players into the mix to finish the game with eight men and it is easy to understand how the team lost 9-1.

There was no such misfortune for Tenby as they were in league action against Pembroke Boro and beat the home side 12-2.

With Gareth Lewis joining the club from Carew just before Christmas, the Seasiders' defence has been strengthened yet again to complement their attack threat and it was that threat which was in evidence all afternoon.

Daryl Mansbridge finished the game with three to his name, while James Buckle and Phil Catlin ended the game with two apiece. Other goal scorers included Perry Broadhurst, Dean Rossiter, Tom Nicholas, Sam Christopher and Tom Merion.

Saundersfoot Sports had a convincing 3-0 win at home against Milford Athletic, with player/manager Danny Caine describing it as "a good performance that has been a long time coming."

Playing against the wind in the first half, the home team were unlucky not to go into the break a goal or two to the good, yet made amends for any lapses in front of goal with three in the second half.

Caine put his team one up from a penalty, while Carl Wainwright added the second and Sam Reeves the third with a top corner finish.

In the Division Three Cup match at Broad Haven, Narberth held the home team to a 2-2 score until the game was abandoned in extra-time, while St. Clears went through to the next round with a 3-0 win over Hakin United's reserves as Colin Reynolds scored two and Charlie Smith the other.

Meanwhile, in league action, St. Florence drew 0-0 away at Monkton Swifts, while Lawrenny won 3-0 away at Hubberston thanks to goals from Mike Jolly, James Brown and Mike Beynon.

In Division Four, Ian Sefton's solitary goal gave Carew Seconds the points at home against Neyland. while in the second leg of the first round Division Five Cup clash between Tenby and West Dragons, Tenby won 1-0, although they lost 3-1 on aggregate.

Finally, in Division Five league football, St. Clears' reserves drew 1-1 with Haverfordwest Cricket Club, while Lawrenny Seconds beat their counterparts from Pendine 7-0 thanks to a hat-trick from Dean Morris, a brace by Owen James and two more from Chris Beff.
