St. Clears may have begun the season in fine form as they lead Division Three, yet their stay in the West Wales Cup has come to an abrupt end after they lost away to Llanelli Steel.

The Saints went down 5-2 against a team that Jason Owen described as being 'a better all-round team'.

Their cause wasn't helped by the fact that Jason Baxter was sent off after 20 minutes for handling the ball in the box and this disrupted their playing pattern in the first half when they trailed 4-1 going into the break.

Sam Thomas scored the Saints' first goal, with Eddie Wiggins coming off the bench in the second half to score their other goal. However, another goal by the home side put paid to any hopes of a 10-man comeback and any dreams the visitors had of making it into the next round.

Carew's season has been far from glorious thus far as they prop up Division One and their losing streak continued after they lost 4-2 at home against Pembroke Boro. There are mitigating circumstances surrounding Carew's disappointing form of late as they have lost a considerable amount of talent in the close season. Add in the fact that Pembroke Boro are a more than capable team and it's no wonder they found the going tough against them.

Pendine were another team to have a player sent off for handling the ball in the box and they, too, lost out, going down to a narrow 4-3 defeat at home against St. Joseph.

The Gulls were leading going into the break and deserved their lead following a Steve Jones goal. Jones added another early in the second, but when Justin Blewitt was sent packing for his misdemeanour in the box, it's little wonder that they lost their shape.

The visitors scored from the resulting penalty and added another soon after, before going 3-2 ahead.

A brief comeback by Pendine saw Carl Trapman pull the sides level, but the visitors scored with two minutes to go to seal their win and a path through to the next round.

St. Florence lost 5-1 at home against Rockspur in their first round clash, while the games between Llansamlet and Kilgetty and Tenby v Port Tenant Colts were abandoned due to the adverse weather conditions.

Back to league football and in Division Two Manorbier lost 1-0 away at Letterston, while Saundersfoot suffered a huge blip in form to go 6-0 down at home against Prendergast Villa. The Sports have been playing well so far this season, so this could be considered a shock result, yet the visitors are a well-polished side who will be looking to get promoted back to the top flight after coming down last year.

In Division Three, Lawrenny lost 6-0 at home against Hundleton in what Neil Jolly described as being 'a poor team performance.' The home side played the game tactically wrong as they kicked in the air as opposed to on the ground and in such windy conditions this really is an act of folly.

"Fair play to Hundleton," added Jolly. "They created more than us and played the conditions better. We had just as much possession as them, yet didn't use the ball well enough and didn't deserve to get anything from the game."

Narberth Seconds were away at Prendergast Villa Seconds and lost 4-2, despite a brace of goals from Jason Jones, while Carew Seconds had a superb 6-2 away win at Camrose thanks to a brilliant hat-trick by Huw Evans and a brace by Blain Wherrett. Add into the mix a fine strike by Mark Robinson and you had all the ingredients for a fine performance that resulted in three points for Barry Evans's team.

Carl Wainwright was in superb form for Saundersfoot Seconds as he slammed in three goals for the visitors in their 4-0 away win at Johnston. Jamie Morgan also scored for the Seasiders in a dominant display that bodes well for future games.

Kilgetty Seconds produced a better performance than they have been doing, yet still went down 2-1 at home against Milford United.

Meanwhile, in Division Five, Lawrenny Seconds produced one of their best displays of the season to win 2-0 away at Hubberston, with John Beff grabbing both goals.

"It was a really good team performance," said Beff. "Jake Hardman was superb for us in goal and pulled off some brilliant saves and that lifted us all to play the way we did."

St. Clears' second string had the result of the day after they won 10-2 at home against Fishguard Sports. Simon Bancroft led the way with four goals, with Lloyd Evans and Isaac scoring two apiece. James Owen and Neil Thompson each scored a goal to complete the rout, with Evans saying it was a display to be proud of.

"We've played like this all season. We created loads and put them away which is something we haven't been doing so far. It was a great performance."

Meanwhile, Tenby Seconds lost 6-3 at home against West Dragons, despite a brace of goals by Sam Christopher and one by Jimmy Thomas, although it was a good performance by the league newcomers who have a lot of experience on their team.
