Narberth reserve team assistant manager Adrian Howells admits his team were off the boil as he witnessed his side crash out of the reserve division cup at the second to last hurdle. The Bluebirds were aiming to make it two wins out of two in the competition after their victory over Monkton last season, but it isn't to be as they lost out 3-1 against Merlins Bridge at Clarbeston Road. After a good win in the league last week, the team must have gone into the match in high spirits, even though the Wizards are placed second in the league behind Monkton Swifts. In the end, the Bridge were just a little too quick and a little too strong for the Bluebirds on the day. "We didn't play very well to be honest," said Howells. "Huw Vaughan and Rory Spears had good games, but apart from them no-one else really stood out. They were fitter and faster and it showed. "It was a hard afternoon and we were forced to defend hard and conceded two sloppy goals in the first half and when the third went in you could see our heads drop and there was no coming back." It might have been so different had the Bluebirds conceded just one before half-time as Liam Woodford pulled one back with a header five minutes into the second half. The Bluebirds were back in the game then and had chances to score, but failed to take them and then the killer blow came with around 20 minutes to go when a sliced shot flew into the back of the net to seal Narberth's fate. In league football there was no upset for Narberth first team as they travelled to Milford United and showed no mercy on the basement boys as they annihilated them 6-0. Talented teenager Mike Boswell was the star of the show, slamming in four goals in a virtuoso display of football that would have graced any standard of the game. Raff Barnett and Morgan Preece were the other men to score in as one-sided a game as you are ever likely to see. St. Clears must be kicking themselves in Division Two after winning their second game in succession. If only they could have produced this form earlier on in the season then they may have avoided relegation. They haven't, although following their 2-0 win over Camrose, manager Mark Snelling was philosophical about it. "We kept the same team as last week and it paid off. The youngsters that have come in have brought a great energy to the side it looks good for next year. In fact, I can't wait for it to start now. We may have been relegated, but the spirit in the side is superb." The Saints led 1-0 at the break through Colin Reynolds and added to this in the second half through Sam Thomas. Such was the home team's dominance that Camrose only had one shot all afternoon and that was such a tame one that the home team 'keeper didn't even get his kit dirty. Pendine had a good victory away at Fishguard Sports, winning 2-0, with Luke Ormond and Chris Evans netting for the visitors, while Kilgetty kept their march for promotion on track with a magnificent 5-0 win at home over Angle. Nicky Cope kept up his fine scoring record for the season with a superb hat-trick, with Grant James showing his class with a brace. There were nine goals scored in the game between Saundersfoot Sports and Manorbier United, with the visitors scoring five of them. Phil Jones scored twice for the home side, with Peter Bailey and Grant Hardy scoring the other two between them. Mike Ryder was the hero for the visitors with a hat-trick, with Jason Robinson and Paul Maytum scoring the other goals. Meanwhile, in Division Three, St. Florence defeated Hundleton away from home 3-2. Barry Phillips scored twice for the visitors, with Ian Robinson scoring the other. In Reserve Division One, Carew Seconds travelled to Milford Athletic and came away with a 6-1 win and manager Barry Evans admitted it was a relief. "It was a real six-pointer and I'm delighted we won. We've been struggling a little of late so hopefully one more win will put us safe; it was a good performance." The visitors led 2-0 at the break with goals by James Mason and Joe Kidney, with Evan Neil scoring his first goal for the club early in the second half. Kris Stone, Dan Powers and Haydn Shapcott all got on the score sheet in the second half, leaving the result never in doubt. Saundersfoot's second side all but guaranteed promotion with a comfortable win over Hubberston on Saturday. Ross Gray put Sports ahead with a long range effort, although the away 'keeper should have made a routine save, but managed to let the ball slip by his hands. Hubberston did get back on level terms, though, with a freak goal of their own when the home side's 'keeper managed to let the ball slip through his fingers from a corner. With the conditions wet and extremely muddy, the pitch was cutting up every minute, but Saundersfoot managed to play some attractive football under the circumstances. By half-time, the game as a contest was over as a hat-trick from Tom Spencer and another from Danny Caine gave Sports a 5-1 lead. Caine added a second for himself after the break, but Hubberston showed a bit of fight to claw two goals back to make the final score 6-3. Lawrenny, meanwhile, drew 3-3 with Pembroke Boro. Jon Morse grabbed two, while the other goal came courtesy of an own goal by an opposition player.
