Of all the sides most likely to catch league leaders Merlins Bridge to snatch the Division One title, Narberth had the best chance; that was before the weekend where their championship aspirations suffered a blow. Given their splendid league form this season and their respective positions in the league, you would be forgiven for thinking a win against Monkton Swifts was a foregone conclusion. It wasn't, as they ended up losing 3-0 at home. The Swifts have looked out of sorts this season despite their outstanding performances over the past few seasons, but they managed to gel at Jesse Road as Narberth had no answer to their pace, possession and precision. Goals from James Callan, Ben Goldsmith and Mike Canton were enough to guarantee the points, with Narberth barely getting a shot on target all match. The same cannot be said for Carew, as they did manage to snare one goal against Pennar Robins, but that couldn't help them from being beaten 3-1 at home. The ever-dependable James Buckle scored Carew's only goal, with Phil Thompson, Lee Brockway and Paul Lowe, with a well-taken penalty, all scoring for the visitors. In Division Two, St. Clears came close to sneaking their first win of an otherwise forgettable season with a sterling performance against division leaders Kilgetty. They finally went down 3-2, but that wasn't without a fight. Kilgetty took an early lead with goals from Nick Cope and Jack Bevan, but a Sam Thomas goal just before the break reduced the deficit for the Saints. Geoff Marsh pulled the home side two goals clear with a fine header, but a lapse in defence allowed Lloyd Evans in to score. This boosted the Saints, who raised their level of play to rally around in the second half, but it wasn't enough as Kilgetty managed to hold on to their lead. Elsewhere in the division, Manorbier United went down 2-0 at home against Pembroke Boro after goals from Stefan Sandford and James Kitts, while Tenby's game against Pendine was called off due to a waterlogged pitch. In Division Three, St. Florence had an excellent result at home against Newport Lions, winning 4-0. Adam Johns was the hero with a well-taken brace, while the other goals came from Geoff Evans and Scott Smith. Not such good news for Lawrenny, however, as they went down 5-0 away at Lamphey. This was always going to be a difficult game for Chris Buckle's men, but with a decent record of late, it was one they could have got something from. Unfortunately for him and his team, they came away with nothing as the Stags were in imperious form. Two goals apiece from Anthony Webb and Gordon Skyrme, plus one from Mike Davies, were enough to dispose of Lawrenny, who will be hoping to bounce back with a win in the New Year. In Reserve Division One, Narberth had an horrendous day in the office as they suffered a 6-0 thrashing away at Prendergast Villa. Nigel Thomas's team were never at the races, with Anthony Davies grabbing four goals and Sam Davies and Matthew Bailleux the others. Carew didn't fare much better against Pennar Robins, as they went down 5-2 away from home. Paul Bullock and Mark Robinson scored for Carew, but it was never enough against the rampant Robins, as a James Heaps brace, followed by goals from Ben Jones, Daniel Williams and Steve James, guaranteed the points for Pennar. A Ross Gray hat-trick helped Saundersfoot Sports secure a 4-0 win away at Lawrenny in Reserve Division Two, with the other goal coming from Rob Colley. Lawrenny, despite playing well recently, were always on the back foot and struggled for possession all day. There was a more exciting game at St. Clears as the home side pushed Kilgetty all the way to grab a share of the honours in a pulsating 3-3 draw. Matthew Baxter and Simon Bancroft gave the Saints a two-goal advantage at the interval, but in the second half, the visitors equalised following goals by Dean Rossiter and Richard Griffiths. A superb strike by Matthew Baxter, after beating three defenders, put the Saints in control once again, but Jamie Morgan equalised for the visitors by lobbing the 'keeper, before being sent off in the closing minutes. Meanwhile, Tenby managed to hold on against Pendine for an excellent 4-2 win at home. The Seagulls managed to level the scores twice with goals from Steve Thomas and Jamie Rugg, before Tenby pulled clear in the latter stages of the game. Adam Brown, Alan Morgan, Mike Lindsay and Toby Smith all scored for Tenby in a workmanlike performance for Alun Morgan's team.
