Senior Cup

Herbrandston 1 Kilgetty 0

Kilgetty's run in this year's Senior Cup is over, but they didn't go down without a fight as they pushed Herbrandston all the way. The teams met in the same round last season, with the home side winning 4-2, but that meant nothing to Andrew Cope's team as they would have travelled to Herbie with confidence such is their league form this season. It was a ding dong battle throughout the 90 minutes, although Kilgetty did find it difficult to get going with the conditions not ripe for free-flowing football. The grass was long, the wind was swirling around and the pitch is narrow, conditions alien to the field at Kingsmoor. Despite this, the visitors gave a good account of themselves and went close to scoring on a number of occasions, with Nick Cope, Jack Bevan and Paul Hodge all unlucky not to find the back of the net. Herbie had chances, too, although it took until the 80th minute for them to finally break the visitors' defence. With 10 minutes to go, Kilgetty pushed forward, with Cope going close twice, but to no avail. The Senior Cup may be over for Cope's men, but the season is far from finished. They are still in a strong position for promotion and they are still in the Second Division Cup. They may have some silverware yet.

Tenby 1 Solva 3

Tenby manager Neil Finlay had high hopes for his team progressing through to the third round of the Senior Cup having been drawn against Solva; although it was the visitors who came off best during the game. These are exciting times for the Seasiders with a good blend of youth and experience and, following some impressive results of late, this was a good test for them. Unfortunately, Solva have been playing well in the first division and their form showed and they deserved to win, despite a fine goal by Sam Christopher.

Division One

Hakin UNITED 3 Carew 0

Hakin were far too strong for Carew on Saturday and Gerald Hicks and his team can have few complaints about the result. The home side were too polished and stronger in the tackle area than the visitors and it showed throughout the game. This isn't to say that Carew didn't have chances to score, with Ian Sefton going close on two occasions, but if a goal was to come, it would have always been against the run of play. Playing against the wind in the first half, Hakin went into the break 1-0, with Mike Cooper scoring the opener. After the break, it was virtually one-way traffic, with Hakin pushing forward at will. Terry Bevan grabbed the second with a header, while Paul Jones netted the third in another forgettable afternoon for Carew.

Narberth 4 Goodwick United 2

Narberth produced an excellent all-round display as they easily accounted for Goodwick on Saturday. Manager Matthew Johns had nothing but praise for his team, although he admitted they should have scored more. A goal apiece by Jamie Bradfield and Adi Jones gave the Bluebirds a two-goal lead at the break, with an own goal early in the second half and a fine strike by Morgan Preece making it 4-0 before Goodwick even got a look in. If there was one negative to come from the game, it was the fact the home side fell asleep after the fourth went in, allowing Goodwick to score two goals they didn't deserve, but a win is a win and that's all that matters.

Division Two

Fishguard Sports 0 Saundersfoot Sports 2

Saundersfoot produced their best performance of the season as they defeated Fishguard away from home, with Sam Coleman collecting a brace. The visitors dominated from start to finish as they kept hold of possession and denied the home team anything. Coleman's first was scored midway through the first half as he headed the ball firmly into the back of the net following a cross, with his second coming in the second half following a cross by Darren Umanee. Saundersfoot were sponsored by the Kookaba restaurant.

Manorbier United 1 Clarbeston Road 5

Manorbier boss Phil Christopher had no complaints about this result, despite witnessing his team concede five goals to their one. "We were good when we had the ball, but not so good when we didn't," was his assessment of the game. He is of course referring to a lapse or two in defence as the visitors scored twice in the first half and three times in the second; the only bright spot being a fine goal by Mike Ryder in the opening 45 minutes of the game.

St. Clears 2 Angle 4

The Saints' miserable season continues as they remain rooted to the bottom of Division Two following this result. Only a fine brace by the ever-reliable Eddie Wiggins saved them from failing to score against the visitors who dominate the game from the start.

St. Davids 0 Pendine 7

An excellent all-round display by Pendine resulted in a convincing win away at St. Davids. Four goals in the first half and three in the second were enough to dispose of the home team, who were no match for the Seagulls on the day. Justin Blewitt got the ball rolling in the 10th minute, with Ashley Eades scoring a first half brace to go alongside a goal by Steve Thomas. A Ricky Hunt brace and a goal by Lee Lewis were enough in the second half, although the visitors did have other chances to score in a day to remember for Frank Roberts and his team.

Third Division Cup

Hundleton 4 Lawrenny 1

Lawrenny boss Chris Buckle was honest in his appraisal of his team's performance after witnessing them go down 4-1 away at Lawrenny. "We started brightly enough, but fell away after that. We've played well against the big teams, but seem to fall short against Hundleton for some reason." It was looking good when Tom Lewis scored after five minutes, but the rest was something to forget as Hundleton took control scoring twice in each half.

Reserve Division One

Carew 0 Prendergast Villa 2

Carew's reserves gave a disappointing display over the weekend, the only positive being they had over 15 players to choose from for this match. Barry Evans's team were never really in it against a more physical side that played attractive football in each half, although both goals came in the first.

Goodwick United 3 Narberth 2

Narberth's reserves failed to do what their first team did, although they too could have snuck a win against Goodwick if all their chances were put away. The Bluebirds have been playing well this season and it showed as they created plenty of chances, although they could only convert two. Josh Layzell and Nigel Williams were the men to score for Nigel Thomas's team as they went down to a narrow defeat.

Reserve Division Two

Kilgetty 3 Haverfordwest Cricket Club 5

If Kilgetty can produce their worst performance of the season and still score three goals, then things must be going well for Gareth Gwyther's team, although he wasn't best pleased with his side's display. "We got what we deserved," was all he would say on the game. Barry Ormond was the shining light for the home team with a fine hat-trick; scoring once in the first half and twice in the second, but apart from that, there was nothing much to write home about.

Letterston 3 Tenby 1

The wheels came off Tenby's wagon in the second half after a fine first half performance saw them lead 1-0. Toby Smith was the man to score for the Seasiders and when he did, it looked like they would repeat the 8-0 scoreline they managed against the same opponents last month. Despite lots of possession, they failed to take their chances while Letterston did, resulting in the win. "We played like a flat bottle of pop," said manager Alun Morgan. That sums up their afternoon pretty well.

Lawrenny 2 St. Clears 0

Lawrenny produced a dominant display to account for the visitors, with manager Neil Jolly saying it was the best performance of the season. A goal in the fist half by Dean Morris and one in the second by Ian Jenkins were enough to beat the Saints who were enthusiastic, but slightly off the pace all afternoon.

Pendine 3 Manorbier United 1

Despite fielding a young side, once again Pendine produced a performance to be proud of as they disposed of Manorbier 3-1 at home. Goals in the first half by Teged Edwards, Chris Evans and Tom Roberts were enough to defeat Manorbier, who were spirited yet ultimately lacking composure when chances arose. They did manage to put one away, however, with Rob Sawyer netting for the visitors.

Saundersfoot Sports 2 Pembroke Boro 1

Saundersfoot remain in second position following this win against a strong Pembroke Boro side. Goals by Grant Hardy and Rob Colley were enough to claim the points on offer, with Steffan Sandford scoring for the visitors.
