Division One
Carew 3 St. Ishmaels 0
Carew had a comfortable win at home to St. Ishmaels after dominating most of the match. Surprisingly, the first goal did not come until 70 minutes when teenage striker Mike Boswell put Carew in front with a shot from 20 yards. Substitute Robert Whitfield increased the lead and James Buckle completed the scoring for the afternoon. During the second half, Carew used substitutes Phil Jones, Rob Whitfield and Neilson Cole. All three players made an impact and the precision crosses of Jones created two of the goals. Ben Brooks had an important game at the back for Carew.
Narberth 6 Tenby 0
Narberth manager Paul Phillips was full of praise for his team following this impressive victory and also for the way in which the opposition made them work hard for their goals. Tenby may be struggling this season and the Bluebirds flying high, but it took Narberth 40 minutes before Mike Beynon opened the account and that was the only goal of the half. "It was a good win in the end," said Phillips. "But it would have been nice to score more goals to keep the pressure on Monkton. In saying that, Tenby made it difficult for us, especially in the first half where we had our chances but just didn't put them away." The second half belonged to the home team, though, as Beynon scored the second soon after the restart and then Richie Adams scored with a screamer from 25 yards. A Morgan Preece special was Narberth's fourth, before David Gillard made amends for missing a hatful of chances by grabbing a brace towards the end.
Division Two
Angle 2 St. Clears 1
A goal with 10 minutes to go was enough to give Angle the points in this close encounter, although Saints manager Mark Snelling was convinced that his side had done enough to sneak it with an inspired second half performance. "To be fair, they thoroughly outplayed us in the first half, but once we scored I thought we were going to go on and win it. We played really well in the second half, but that late goal killed us." Angle were 1-0 up at half-time after Rob Jones gave them the lead, but an Ollie Thomas goal drew the Saints level mid-way through the second half. The goal inspired the visitors to greater things and they had the better of the half until Jason Davies sneaked in for the winner and the Saints were never allowed back in for another chance to score.
Kilgetty 1 Pennar Robins 3
Pennar proved why they are the favourites to get promoted this year with a fine all-round performance against Kilgetty. The visitors dominated for most of the game, although Kilgetty will be rueing the chances they missed. Jamie Morgan and Nick Cope both had shots cleared off the line, before Wayne Brunton gave Pennar the lead. Only one goal separated the teams at the break, but the league leaders soon added another in the second half when Paul Lowe sneaked one home. Anthony Bevan pulled one back for the home team, which gave them confidence, but Pennar had the last say through another Lowe effort, leaving home team manager Andrew Cope disappointed at the result. "Overall our performance was good. I think we did enough to get a draw, but when Lowe grabbed his second there was only one team in it and unfortunately it wasn't us."
Pendine 3 Fishguard Sports 1
Two goals in the first half and one in the second were enough for Pendine to dispose of Fishguard in a display that Justin Blewitt described as "comfortable." "It was never in doubt," he said. "We could and should have scored more really, but a win is a win and that is all that matters." Blewitt gave the Seagulls the lead with a rebound after his penalty had been saved and Craig Hurst increased it soon after with a well-taken header. Dwayne Reynolds grabbed the third before Fishguard regrouped for Steve Lewis to score towards the end.
Saundersfoot Sports 2 Clarbeston Road 2
The visitors had the better of the first half and held a one goal advantage at half-time following a strike by Owen Roberts. There were signs towards the end of the first half that Sports were getting back into the game and James Caine equalised with a left-footed shot from a goalmouth scramble after 10 minutes of the second half. Another goalmouth scramble produced a goal for Dylan Umanee when he rifled the ball into the top right corner. Substitute Rhys Jones caused problems for the Saundersfoot defence towards the end of the match and managed to grab an equaliser for Clarbie. It was a good all-round team performance by Saundersfoot, with 16-year-old Richard Thomas having an outstanding game in goal.
Division Three
Pembroke United 1 Manorbier United 3
Cosheston was the venue for the Division Three leaders to face the bottom of the table side. Pembroke produced a physical display and Manorbier did well in the end to pick up three points. An improved home side, with several new signings, battled from the off, but Manorbier gained a good share of possession and had several early chances to take the lead, with James Hall and Josh Hawkes coming closest to scoring. After the half hour, Pembroke took the lead when a defensive error led to an own goal. In the second half, Manorbier attacked with more purpose and were rewarded when Ben Hall latched onto a loose ball on the edge of the box and fired a low drive into the bottom corner. As both teams battled for supremacy, it took a master strike from Josh Hawkes from 20 yards into the top corner of the goal to give the Yellows the lead. Pembroke again countered, but were finally defeated when a super individual goal from Adam Thorne, who chipped the ball over the 'keeper with five minutes remaining, sealed the points for the visitors. On a day for leaders, skipper Ben Hall played superbly in midfield, and Paul Maytum was a man mountain at the heart of the defence.
Lawrenny 2 St. Davids City 4
As usual, Lawrenny did not start too well and St. Davids City were three goals up after 25 minutes. Lawrenny gradually woke up towards the latter stages of the first half and played some good football, with Kim Harland coming close to scoring. In the second half, Lawrenny raised their game a level and scrapped and fought for the ball. Stefan Jenkins clawed a goal back for Lawrenny after being fed from the edge of the box by Rob Williams. Shortly afterwards, a Lawrenny shot hit the bar, City gained possession and took the ball to the other end of the field and were awarded a penalty to pick up their fourth goal. Lawrenny did manage to score one more goal. A good shot by Stefan Jenkins rebounded and Andrew Cole junior was in position to find the back of the net. For Lawrenny, there were good performances by Rob Williams at the back, Kim Harland up front and Sion Allen at left wing back. Gareth Thomas scored twice for St. Davids and the other goals were scored by David Price and Gary Jenkins.
Newport Lions 2 St. Florence 6
Mid-table St. Florence picked up their ninth win from 18 matches in their away match at Newport Lions. The Saints had the better of proceedings. Star striker Scott Smith banged in four goals, supported by strikes from Jamie Roberts and Liam Culshaw.
Reserve Division One
Camrose v Carew
The match was not played as Camrose were unable to field a team.
Hakin 6 Narberth 0
With players of the calibre of Shaun Mills in their side, it was little wonder that Narberth's reserves found the going tough down at the Obs. Mills was one of a hatful of scorers for the home team on Saturday who managed to do something that their first team failed to do last week; namely grabbing a win against the Bluebirds. Jamie Butland struck twice for the Vikings, backed up by goals from Anthony Charnley, Shaun Mills, Jamie Bennett and Tom Wheeler.
Pennar Robins 9 Kilgetty 0
If Narberth found the going tough against Hakin, then Kilgetty found it doubly as hard down at Pennar where the home team scored all of their goals in the first half. Phil Thompson found the back of the net four times, Leigh Laville and Barry Dilworth both scored twice and the other goal came form Paul Sly. Kilgetty manager Barry Ormond had nothing but praise for his team, though, saying: "We never had a shot at goal, but we never gave up and that was good to see."
Reserve Division Two
Fishguard Sports 1 Lawrenny 0
This was a match of few chances, with defence dominating the day. Both sides tried a number of long-range efforts, but generally speaking the strikers were left to feed off scraps. After 10 minutes of the second half, Kevin Kinsella conjured up a goal from nowhere from 35 yards to put Sports in front and the Fishguard team held on to the lead for the remainder of the match. The experienced Barry Phillips was pressed into emergency action as a 'keeper and was the toast of his team-mates after saving a penalty. For Lawrenny, there were good performances by Alun Evans at centre half, Brian Gildea in midfield and Jonathon Beff put in the hard yards up front with minimal reward.
Hubberston 3 Pendine 2
"If only football matches were 80 minutes long." That was the view of Pendine manager Frank Roberts following this defeat; and he's definitely got a point. Pendine were winning this game quite comfortably until the final 10 minutes when the home side completed a remarkable comeback with three quick goals in succession. What's worse is the fact that Pendine had already commanded a two-goal lead, with the home side not looking like scoring, but once the 80 minutes were up, Pendine switched off and the rest, as they say, is history. Gareth Hughes, with two goals, and Stephen Amies, with one, were the toast of Hubberston after pulling the game out of the fire.
Manorbier 3 Haverfordwest Cricket Club 7
Haverfordwest cricketers kept in touch with the Reserve Division Two leaders with an impressive win at Manorbier Although Andrew Joseph had a brace for the Yellows, backed up by a goal from Ceri Worcester, it was not enough to earn Manorbier any points. Rory Blake had a hat-tick for the Cricketers, with both Alex Rowell and Julian Wood scoring twice.
St. Clears 7 Pembroke Boro 0
It appears that it was a weekend for big scores in the reserve divisions as St. Clears racked up a mammoth 7-0 win over Pembroke Boro. "It was brilliant," enthused Saints striker Rob Phillips. "That was one of the best displays I have seen from this team. We've got some hard games coming up and this will give us some confidence." Four goals in the first half and three in the second were enough to dispose of the visitors, with the goals coming from Andrew McCabe with a fine hat- trick, while James Owen and Nigel Price both got on the scoresheet with a brace apiece.
Tenby 0 Saundersfoot Sports 2
Although both teams are neck and neck in the league table, Saundersfoot Sports had the better of this local derby, with Paul Evans and Andrew Spencer getting the goals to give the visitors the points.
