Division One

Carew 6 Haverfordwest County 1

Carew had a cracking start and were out of the traps quickly and scored three goals in the first 10 minutes. Haydn Shapcott scored the first, followed quickly by goals from striker Mike Boswell and Rob Whitfield. Jacek Gryka posed a threat for the visitors, but Martin Scourfield and Daryl John looked solid in defence for Carew. Towards the end of the first half, Mike Boswell got his second to give Carew a lead of four clear goals at half-time. At the start of the first half, the talented County team put Carew under the cosh for a while, but the arrival of substitute Phil Jones on the left paid dividends for Carew. Jones is a quality and experienced player. He soon made a difference with the precision of his crosses. One of these crosses from Jones led to Boswell getting a fine hat-trick, before Paul Bullock scored the goal of the game for Carew. Substitute James Buckle had a superb header disallowed and the visitors came back strongly and were rewarded with a goal by Jacek Gryka. For Carew, Carl Wainwright worked hard up front, Jimmy Thomas and Paul Bullock were tireless in midfield and Mike Boswell finished superbly. It was a very good performance and team effort by the Carew team, who were without injured skipper Dean Rossiter.

Milford Utd 0 Narberth 7

Narberth's title hopes are back on track following this victory and manager Paul Phillips couldn't be happier going into the Christmas period. After last week's miserable defeat away at Haverfordwest County, the Bluebirds never looked like losing as they dominated from the start and got back to playing their dominant style of attacking football. "We absolutely murdered them in the second half," commented Phillips. "Every time we broke away it looked like we were going to score. We played them off the park." Grant James led the way with a super goal on 35 minutes to break the deadlock. Charlie Smith's toe- poke then made it 2-0 going into the break. Milford did have a few chances of their own, but they didn't really threaten at any other time as the visiting defence held firm. David Gillard continued his prolific season to make it 3-0, while a Richard Henton volley made it four goals without reply. By now, the heads of the home team players visibly dropped and Narberth ruthlessly exploited their lapse in concentration. Gillard scored his second to make it five, followed by a Mike Beynon side-footed shot which made it six, before Grant James finished like he began to score Narberth's seventh and final goal.

Solva 8 Tenby 1

Solva picked up their fourth win in 10 matches against a below strength Tenby team. The visitors took time to get used to the open and windy conditions and were four goals down at the interval. In the second half, Solva added four more goals, before Lewis Hurlow came out of goal for Tenby for the last 20 minutes and scored from the penalty spot. Alister Davies scored a hat-trick for Solva and Ben Jones scored twice. The other goals were scored by Luke Jones, Charlie Smith and Steve John.

Division Two

Angle 0 Kilgetty 3

Kilgetty boss Andrew Cope was a happy man over the weekend after his team came away from Angle with a 3-0 victory to their name. In an inspired second half performance, the visitors scored three goals without reply after a tense first half that saw the home side take advantage of a stiff breeze. "It was an excellent win," said Cope. "But they had plenty of chances of getting a lead in the first half as they had lots of effort on goal. We only created a couple ourselves, so it was pleasing to come out after the break in the way that we did." Darren Rossiter scored first with 10 minutes gone in the second half as he latched on to a pass from Nicky Cope. Ten minutes later and Kilgetty were two goals to the good when a Geoff Marsh shot rebounded on to the knee of Anthony Bevan, leaving the home 'keeper helpless, before Gareth Nock rounded things off with a well-struck third and final goal.

Pendine 3 Hubberston 3

A last gasp effort by the visitors resulted in a goal for them and two points lost for Pendine as the Seagulls let go of the lead, not once, but three times. The 0-0 scoreline at the break suggests two evenly matched sides, but that's no consolation for the Pendine players, especially after Robbie Waters gave them the lead early on in the second half. Hubberston equalised soon after, but when Rob Thomas's scrambled effort resulted in their second goal, the initiative went back to the home side. It was short-lived, though, as the visitors scored again, but a 20-yard shot by Jack Morris lifted the gloom and the lead was Pendine's once again. Morris's goal looked like being enough, but Hubberston were not going to give in easily and a lapse of concentration allowed them in to score right on the stroke of full-time, giving Pendine no chance of sneaking a win at the death. Jeff Smith, Jamie Black and Mike Evans were on target for the visitors.

Saundersfoot Sports 1 Hundleton 0

Play was pretty even during the first half and no goals were scored before the interval. In the second half, Danny Caine was brought down in the box and scored himself from the penalty spot to put Sports in the lead. For a while, the Hundleton team put Saundersfoot under pressure, but the back four of Darren and Dylan Umanee, Paul Thomas and Russell Evans were equal to the task, while Ben Evans continued his fine form in goal to keep a clean sheet. Saundersfoot manager Chris Jenkins said: "If Hundleton keep playing like this they will not be at the bottom of the table for long." And he added: "We will need to buck up our ideas to play Kilgetty in next Saturday's local derby."

St. Clears 3 Fishguard Sports 1

Saints manager Mark Snelling was as pleased as punch following this third win in four games for the home side. He admitted that it wasn't a great game, but his team performed well enough to take the three points on offer. "I'm pleased we came out on top as they are a good team. It wasn't the greatest of games from a spectator's point of view, but a win is a win and it will give us confidence ahead of next week's game against Prendergast." A Deian Glyn header gave the Saints an early second half lead following a first half stalemate, before Jamie Goodyear followed suit not long after. Simon Bancroft then made it 3-0 with an excellent goal, before the visitors responded with a goal of their own through Nigel Davies. Any chance of a comeback was short-lived, though, as the referee blew up straight away, leaving the home side with plenty of smiles on their faces. Division Three

Lawrenny 8 Pembroke United 2

Lawrenny started strongly against the bottom of the table visitors and should have been three goals up in the first 10 minutes. Midway through the half, Stefan Jenkins put Lawrenny in front following a good through ball by Mike Howe to Steve Lewis, who crossed the ball for Jenkins to score. Just before the interval, Steve Lewis cut in from the right to beat the United 'keeper. After missing some chances early on in the second half, Lawrenny conceded a goal when Pembroke United scored from breakaway movement. A left-footed shot by Mike Jolly restored the two goals advantage and Steve Lewis increased the lead when he chipped the Pembroke 'keeper. Stefan Jenkins then scored a carbon copy of the first goal and followed up to complete his hat-trick when he chipped the 'keeper. Sion Allen scored from close range after another shot by Jenkins was partially saved and Mike Howe made it eight for the Lawrenny team. Before the final whistle, the visitors had another breakaway goal to reduce the deficit. For Lawrenny, there were good performances by Steve Lewis and Stefan Jenkins up front, Mike Jolly in midfield and Tom Lewis at the back.

Letterston 4 Manorbier United 0

Manorbier travelled to Letterston for a difficult fixture against the division's form side. The visitors dominated the first 30 minutes and looked comfortable in possession, with Josh Hawkes controlling the midfield. Ashley Murdoch leapt like a Salmon to head just wide with their closest effort. But after 30 minutes, Letterston took the lead against the run of play, when a defensive error was punished by Liam Robb to make it 1-0. Just before the interval, what only can be described as a fluke goal by Geraint Mathias made it two. The game opened up as the visitors chased the game and created three goal friendly chances which sadly failed to disturb the net. Two visiting penalty appeals were turned down, before Letterston ended the contest with their third goal, which was scored by Geraint Mathias after another defensive error. Manorbier heads dropped and to compound their misery a fourth was added by Lee James and Manorbier also had a player dismissed for a second bookable offence. Team manager Jo Craig was annoyed that poor defensive mistakes, coupled with a lack of finishing power was exposed, meaning his side are now desperately in need of a run of victories to have any chance of mounting a serious promotion challenge.

St. Florence 2 Broad Haven 3

Although striker Scott Smith scored twice for the Saints, it was not enough to earn a point over the visitors from Broad Haven in this mid-table battle. Unfortunately for St. Florence, the visitors netted three times, with the goals coming from Steve Roberts, Tom Alexander and Ian May.

Reserve Cup First Round

Kilgetty 6 Lawrenny 1

"It could've been a lot more," was Kilgetty second team manager Barry Ormond's summation of this game. "To be honest, we dominated to such an extent that it got a little bit messy towards the end as everybody tried to snatch a goal." Playing messy and winning is a luxury not afforded to many teams, so it's best not to be too critical of this victory, but suffice it to say that Kilgetty will face more challenging tests as they progress in the competition. Lawrenny were never in it, despite scoring a penalty towards the end through Jonathan Beff, as Rob Beynon made hay with a fine hat-trick, together with a brace from Ormond and a goal by Alan Williams in a totally dominant display.

Manorbier United 0 Monkton Swifts 8

After a miserable week of weather, the clouds broke for a lovely Saturday afternoon for football. Manorbier had quite a few players out through injury and work commitments, so needed their strength in depth.  Rob Sawyer managed to pick up a neck injury the night before the game and told Will Hughes, manager of Manorbier, he wouldn't be able to head the ball properly during the game, but wanted to play 45 minutes for the club's cause.  Within two minutes of the whistle, an in-swinging corner came into the Manorbier six-yard box and Rob Sawyer leapt into the air and headed home a powerful header into his own net to give keeper Tom Christopher no chance!  Monkton then scored again to make it two- nil. Then deja-vu struck again for the third goal, when an in-swinging corner came into the Manorbier box, and the ball glanced off Terry John's shiny forehead and he managed to head home into his own net.  At half-time, the score was four-nil to the visitors, but Manorbier were very happy with their first half display, as they had their fair share of possession.  In the second half, the game was still very competitive, with Manorbier showing there was not a great deal between the sides. Rob Sawyer picked up an injury after the hour mark and had to be substituted, and was sent for an afternoon 'siesta'.  Andrew Joseph and Ricky Rees-Thomas ran their hearts out in midfield, but both then picked up injuries, and with no substitutes left on the bench, had to try their best in the middle of the park.  In the last 20 minutes, Monkton pressed home the advantage of Manorbier's injuries and scored four goals in quick succession to make the scoreline more flattering than the game really was.  For Manorbier, Ian Edwards had an outstanding game at the back, and Ricky Rees-Thomas showed a bit of class in the centre of midfield.

Narberth 6 Saundersfoot 0

Despite turning up at Jesse Road with a bare minimum of 11 players, no substitutes or a linesman, Saundersfoot gave a battling performance against Narberth, but it was never going to be enough against a team hell bent on progressing through the rounds of this competition. Narberth scored two goals without reply in the first half through an own goal and Gavin James. Adrian Howells and Nigel Williams scored goals number three and four, respectively, before James rounded off a fine afternoon for him and his team with two further scores to complete a fine hat-trick.

Reserve Division One

Milford Athletic 2 Carew 2

Carew remain in second position in the table despite being held to a draw away to Milford Athletic and remain three points behind the leaders Monkton Swifts. Goals by Wayne Cannon and Adam Johns for Carew were cancelled out by goals from Kyle Morris and Steve Parkes for Milford Athletic.

Reserve Division Two

Fishguard Sports 0 St. Clears 5

St. Clears' second team travelled to Fishguard and came away with a magnificent 5-0 win to their name. It was an excellent all-round team effort from the Saints, who scored three goals in the first half through Colin Reynolds and Dorian Davies before Reynolds scored again. Reynolds completed his hat-trick as soon as the second half began, before James Owen completed the rout with a fine fifth and final goal. NB. The game between Pembroke Boro and Pendine seconds was called off after Pendine were unable to raise a side.

Tenby 1 Solva 4

Tenby stalwart Steve Williams summed up this game when he said: "Solva did not touch the ball for the first 20 minutes - then we kicked off!" Tenby struggled to raise a team, but were only one goal behind at the interval. Stuart McClaren scored from the penalty spot to equalise, after the visitors had taken the lead. The penalty was awarded when Jamie Sylvester was fouled in the box, but Solva regained the lead before half-time and added two more goals for good measure in the second half. All of the Tenby players gave one hundred per cent in a game which was refereed extremely well. Sixteen-year-old Richard Bridges had an excellent game in goal for Tenby, Jamie Sylvester battled well up front and the experience of Mike Cornick kept the goals down at the back.
