Division One
Carew 0 Merlins Bridge 0
Unfortunately, the match was abandoned after 35 minutes as the referee Steve Evans picked up a leg injury. Carew who have made a good start to the season played against the wind in the first half and cancelled out the Bridge attacking efforts. It was a nip and tuck contest and Carl Wainwright came close to opening the scoring for Carew. The Carew players were looking forward to playing with the wind at their backs in the second half, but the match came to a premature end.
Haverfordwest County 10 Tenby 1
After competing early on Tenby, were unable to withstand the series of attacks by Haverfordwest County so that eventually the floodgates opened. Sonny Phillips did get his name on the score sheet for the visitors, but it was the only consolation after Jacek Gryka scored five goals supported by Gary Thomas with two, backed up by goals from Mike Williams, Nigel Jenkins and Mathew Ellis. Narberth 5 Herbrandston 2
Narberth manager Paul Phillips had nothing but praise for his team on Saturday after they demolished table topping Herbrandston 5-2. The win means the Bluebirds have leapfrogged the early league pacesetters and now head the table. "It was a really, really good performance," said Phillips. "We had three of our top players missing, but it just goes to show how strong this squad is. To produce a performance like that was very pleasing." Narberth dominated from the start scoring four goals without reply before the break. Micky Beynon continued his rich vein of form in front of goal with a first half hat-trick, while Morgan Preece added the other. The fifth came soon after the interval, but instead of kicking on to inflict more misery on the visitors, Narberth allowed them back in. For the last 20 minutes, the game belonged to Herbie and they scored two of their own without reply. "It was a good job we had scored those goals when we did," added Phillips. "Otherwise it could have been close."
Division Two
Kilgetty 2 St. Clears 1 Kilgetty took the points on offer, but the general consensus from this game was that a draw would have been a more fitting result. Both managers agreed that their teams played well; the visitors even more so considering they were down to 10 men after 20 minutes when Sam Thomas was sent for an early shower for dissent. Kilgetty may have dominated the early exchanges, but it was the visitors who scored first as they broke away to allow Steve Trivett to score to give them a half-time lead. The homeside came out fighting after the break and pulled one back through Jack Bevan, but it was Wayne Scourfield who proved to be Kilgetty's hero as his pin point header found the back of the net. Home team manger Andrew Cope was a relieved man. "Once we scored the first, I felt that we could have gone on to win the game especially after creating so much. Credit must go to St. Clears though, as they played well especially with ten men."
Pendine 3 Pembroke Boro 2
A last gasp winner by Robbie Waters was enough to secure a win for Pendine at home against the Boro. The Seagulls dominated for most of the game especially in midfield where Wesley Reynolds took the man-of-the-match honours after being called up from the seconds. Despite their dominance, Pendine were only 1-0 up at the break, Jack Morris scoring the opener. The Boro pulled one back through James Kitts. Peter Roberts then extended the home team lead with a spectacular effort before the Boro equalised again through Robert Crocker. A draw was looking likely until Waters produced one for the memory and better still, three points for his team. Saundersfoot Sports 1 Milford Athletic 0
Sports picked up their second win of the season in a hard-fought game against Milford Athletic. The only goal of the game came from a strike by Jason Llama after 40 minutes. The young striker who was playing out of position up front, picked up the ball from 18 yards and shot inside the bottom corner. Chances were few and far between and the closest the visitors came to scoring was having a penalty appeal turned down in the second half. Jason Llama was the pick of the Saundersfoot players on the day.
Division Three
Lawrenny 2 St. Florence 0
No goals were scored in the first half as the respective defences cancelled out the attacking movements of the opposition. Lawrenny enjoyed wind advantage in the first half although as the wind was more of a cross field wind, it was of dubious value. When Lawrenny create a couple of early chances, former Lawrenny player James Phillips pulled off some good saves in the St. Florence goal. The second half was more of the same, but Kim Harland gave Lawrenny the lead after 25 minutes. The goal came from a free kick into the box. Stefan Jenkins tried an overhead kick and the ball cannoned back towards Kim Harland who struck the ball on to the crossbar and then it bounced back into the net. With five minutes of the match remaining, Kim Harland picked up his second goal. Mike Howe put a ball over the top and Harland was able to lob the Saints' 'keeper James Phillips. For Lawrenny, Steven Cole had an excellent game in goal, Damian Arthur swept up cleanly until he was injured and Kim Harland took his chances well up front. Unfortunately for St. Florence, centre half Paul Davies broke his nose and his departure upset the rhythm of the defence.
Manorbier United 4 St. Davids City 0
Manorbier United got the better of this top of the table clash and have built up a lead of two points over St. Davids at the top of the table by winning four of their five matches to date. Two goals by Jamie Robinson were supplemented by goals from James Hall and Ben Hall to bring United's goal tally in the match to four.
Reserve Division One
Merlins Bridge 4 Narberth 3
Narberth went down to a narrow defeat away at the Bridge although the scoreline would have been greater had the Wizards not gifted the visitors two goals by their own team! Jonathan Morse was the only Narberth player to score on the day, but with all of the home team's goals coming from the boot of Lee Sykes.
Milford Athletic 7 Kilgetty 1
Kilgetty's second string missed the influence of manager Barry Ormond on Saturday as they travelled away to Milford and came away on the wrong end of a 7-1 hammering. Stand-in manager Lee James says Ormond's return to the fold can't come soon enough. "That was our worst performance of the season, we created very little, our defence was poor and above all we missed the tactical knowledge of Barry Ormond." Kind words indeed for the Gaffer, but it's possible that even his influence on the team could have done little to avoid defeat. They were outplayed in all departments and could only score one goal, which came from the boot of Chris May. There was some good news though as Gareth Gwyther saved a late second half penalty, but by then the damage had already been done.
St. Ishmaels 0 Carew 2
League leaders Carew maintained their invincible record with their seventh win on the trot this season, in a tough contest at St. Ishmaels. The visitors battled against the wind in the first half and were given the lead by teenager Dan Powers. It followed some clever interplay between the Powers and Ceri Bradley before Powers cut through the defence and slotted the ball past the Tish 'keeper. Carew were made to work hard for their win, but clinched the game after half-an-hour of the second half with a well-worked goal from Neilson Cole. Dan Powers put in a precision cross from the left and Neilson Cole was on hand to stab the ball in from close range near the front post. Neil 'Woolly' Morgan had a solid game on the left side of midfield for Carew and there were other strong performances by centre half David Lewis and sweeper Phil Jones.
Reserve Division Two
Fishguard 12 Pendine 2
Pendine's second team will want to forget their trip to Fishguard in a hurry after this 12-2 defeat. Very few positives could be taken at all from their performance as they were blown away by a ruthless home side. Steve Jones provided the only highlight for the visitors with both of his team's goal in an otherwise thoroughly disappointing day for the Seagulls.
Pembroke Boro 6 Lawrenny 1
Lawrenny are still looking for their first win of the season after conceding four goals before half-time. The first half performance by the visitors was their worst for three or four years and the players had the 'hair dryer' treatment at half-time from team manager Nigel Jenkins who read the riot act. In the first half, there were defensive errors galore and as players were not taking responsibility it allowed the Boro strikers free reign. The half-time pep talk did the trick to some extent with Lawrenny playing a lot better in the second half. In fact, in the opening stages of the first half, the visitors created some pressure in their best spell of the game and were awarded a penalty after seven minutes which was scored by 17-year-old Rhys Jenkins. Boro scored two more goals in the first half to bring their tally to six, with Darren Thomas on target five times and the other goal was scored by Gary John. For Lawrenny, Chris Beff worked hard up front and goalkeeper Geraint Nicholas did well to reduce the amount of carnage in the first half.
Solva 3 Saundersfoot Sports 0
The visitors produced some good football without being able to score any goals against promotion seeking Solva. Goals by Ben Fawcett, Daniel Williams and Mathew Harries gave Solva the three points and their fifth win in seven matches.
St. Clears 9 Letterston 0
"Brilliant. Couldn't fault it. They boys were magnificent." That was the reaction of St. Clears' manager Rob Phillips after his team walked away comfortable winners against Letterston. Four goals in the first half and five in the second were enough to dispose of the hapless visitors who failed to cope with the home team's pace, skill and guile around the field. Despite only scoring one of his team's goals, Steve Phillips was once again in a class of his own up front as he ran rings around the visiting defence. Nigel Price scored four of the Saints' goals, while the other came from Andrew McCabe and Dorian Davies who both scored a brace.
Tenby 1 Manorbier United 1
The first half was pretty even in this absorbing local derby, but the visitors went ahead five minutes before half-time with a terrific shot by Andrew Joseph from 30 yards out. When the referee was injured Charles Davies, who has recently qualified, stepped in to officiate in his first Pembrokeshire league game although he was at the match as one of the substitutes! In the second half, Tenby created a number of scoring chances, but were unable to find the back of the net. Eventually, teenager James Sylvester pounced on a mistake by the visitors to level the scores. For Tenby, Mike Cornick and Alan Morgan were solid at centre back, Lee Simmons had a good game on the left and Mike Thomas showed his agility in goal.
