Division One
Monkton Swifts 2 Tenby 1
Division One leaders Monkton Swifts were given a run for their money by Tenby in a very tight game, but the visitors were unable to pick up any points to relieve relegation anxieties. Tenby's game plan was to stop Swifts in their tracks and the visitors managed to defend strongly for the first 30 minutes. Perry Broadhurst, Mathew Jones and Jim Thomas worked hard in midfield and provided good long through balls for strikers David Jones and Luke Askew. However, after 30 minutes, Swifts took the lead when a crossfield ball from left to right was knocked back into the box and striker Steve Lewis evaded the clutches of Lewis Hurlow in goal with his header. The visitors continued to battle strongly and shut down the Monkton back four, although play was a bit scrappy at times. After 10 minutes of the second half, Dean Driscoll increased the Monkton lead when he headed home a well-flighted cross. Tenby recovered, with Ben Brookes, Simon Cole and Bobby Briers thwarting Monkton attacking movements. The visitors started to play some lovely football and were on top for the next 20 minutes. No one watching at that time would have thought that Tenby were struggling to avoid relegation and Monkton were top of the league. After 30 minutes, Jim Thomas put Luke Askew through, but the Tenby striker was fouled in the box and Bobby Briers reduced the deficit from the penalty spot. It set up a hectic last 15 minutes. Tenby introduced Mike Cornick in defence and his experience played a valuable part in preventing Monkton scoring any further goals. In fact, Tenby were unlucky not to equalise and a draw would have been a fair result after such an excellent all-round team effort by the Tenby team.
Narberth 4 Neyland 1
Bluebirds manager Barry Walters was a happy man last weekend after witnessing his side demolish Neyland by four goals to one. The Bluebirds' boss admitted it was quite difficult for his team to pick themselves up after the previous Saturday's epic win over Monkton in the semi-final of the Pembrokehsire Senior Cup, but was full of praise nonetheless for his side, and the opposition. "It was a pleasing result. It was quite difficult after last week, but the result keeps us rolling on. "The scoreline flattered us a little bit and the wind spoilt it for everyone. In saying that, Neyland deserved something from it, but Huw Davies made some fine saves and made sure of the win." Walters also singled out two-goal hero Adie Jones for praise saying that his performance was giving him a selection headache ahead of the final. "He's certainly putting his hand up. He played very well and scored two good goals. It was a man of the match performance." Jones opened the scoring on 10 minutes after rounding the 'keeper and scoring from a narrow angle. Wayne Howells then grabbed the second after Jones delivered a pinpoint cross leaving the score 2-0 at the break. Neyland replied with a goal from Colin Picton in the second period and pressurised the Narberth goal for more, but failed to get past man-mountain 'keeper Huw Davies. Narberth regrouped, pulled themselves together and put the game beyond doubt when Charlie Smith scored the third, before Jones completed a fine day for him by adding his second one-minute before time.
Division Two
Fishguard Sports 0 Pendine 2
Pendine's fine form continued on Saturday with a fine win away at Fishguard. It was a fine all-round performance from the visitors, echoed by Pendine player Justin Blewitt. "We played really well. We were on top throughout and scored two good goals. We play Pembroke Boro this week and they lost on Saturday, which is good news for us. If we win that one, promotion is still on the cards." The Seagulls led 1-0 at half-time thanks to a goal by Rob Waters. Stephen Thomas then added another after the interval and, although no further goals were forthcoming, it was enough to see Pendine through.
Letterston 0 St. Clears 2
St. Clears secured their ninth win of the season away at Letterston, winning 2-0. The visitors were never really in trouble and scored a goal in each half to secure the points.
Saundersfoot Sports 2 Pembroke Boro 0
This was an excellent result for a Saundersfoot team who kept in touch with the promotion race in the best possible fashion by defeating the Division Two leaders. Play was quite even at the start, although Sports deserved to take the lead after 20 minutes when Darren Umanee scored directly from a corner as his kick curled inside the far post. After 15 minutes of the second half, both teams lost a player through a red card. Slowly Saundersfoot started to get on top and after 75 minutes a well-taken free-kick by Rhys Davies resulted in Danny Caine increasing the Saundersfoot lead with a header. It was a match which Sports deserved to win, with Rhys Davies having a cracking game at right-back and Scott Davidson playing an important part when he came on as a substitute to play in the right wing position.
Solva 6 Kilgetty 1
Kilgetty's hopes of avoiding a drop into division three remain in the balance after this setback, although manager Andrew Cope saw enough to remain positive to maintain their current position. "The result was disastrous, but the performance was good. We did well enough to create chances; we just couldn't put them away. "We even put three boys up front in the second half to try and put them away, but it just didn't happen." The visitors trailed 2-1 at half-time thanks to a goal by Anthony Bevan after Chris Garratt and Ian Bartlett had each scored for Solva. No matter how much Kilgetty tried in the second half, the only team to score was Solva. They knocked in four to seal Kilgetty's fate, as Luke Jones was on target twice, with other goals coming from Mike Harries and an own goal.
Lawrenny 0 Lamphey 0 (abandoned after 55 minutes)
Unfortunately this game was abandoned after 55 minutes following a long delay when a Lamphey player was knocked out after a collision between two Lamphey players. The referee and players of both teams acted quickly to put the injured Lamphey player in the recovery position and he had regained consciousness when the ambulance arrived to take him to hospital. At the time, Lamphey were winning by one goal to nil, but the players of both teams agreed with the referee's decision to abandon the game in the circumstances. James Phillips had pulled off some good saves in goal for Lawrenny, who were unable to convert some of the half chances created.
Reserve Division One
Carew 4 St. Ishmaels 1
Carew came back on track with a comfortable win in a typical end of season game. Both teams are in the Reserve Cup semi-finals next Saturday, with Carew playing Monkton Swifts at Pennar Robins and Tish battling it out against Merlin's Bridge at Hakin United. In the first half, Carew had wind advantage and created plenty of chances, but only converted one, when the solitary goal in the first half was scored by Ian Sefton to give Carew the lead. At the start of the second half, Ian Sefton was taken off as a precaution, to be replaced by Ceri Bradley and Neil Gregory replaced Ed Beynon. As so often happens, Carew found it easier to play against the wind in the second half and began to dominate proceedings. Barry Evans increased the lead with a neat move, which started on the right. The ball was crossed into the backs and although the Tish 'keeper managed to save the powerful shot from Evans, the ball rebounded and Evans was alert enough to be on hand to place the ball inside the empty net. Lee Watkins picked up the third goal for Carew with a cross-cum-shot, before Ashley Findlay reduced the deficit for the visitors with a left-footed free- kick into the bottom corner. Carew did manage to score again when Seb Palin scored goal number four and the players will be wondering if they did enough to catch the eye of the selectors to play in the semi final tomorrow (Saturday).
Hakin UNITED 0 Narberth 7
Harry Allen was the toast of his teammates on Saturday after knocking in a hat-trick away at Hakin. His trio of goals helped the Bluebirds' second string to an emphatic away win, earning them their eighth win of the campaign. Adrian Howells and Chris O'Connell scored a goal apiece, while Jason Jones chipped in with a brace to help give Narberth the win.
Kilgetty 0 Merlins Bridge 5
Kilgetty's second team are doomed for relegation to reserve division two and this result just adds insult to injury. Mark Parry and Jamie Palmer scored a brace apiece for the Wizards, while Lee Sykes scored one to help complete the rout.
Reserve Division Two
St. Clears 1 Letterston 1
Neither side really got going in this scrappy end of season game. The Saints dominated the first half, but could only manage one goal through Simon Bancroft. More chances were forthcoming after the break, but the only person to score was Lee James, for Letterston.
Pendine 1 Fishguard Sports 1
It was the same result for Pendine at home against Fishguard. Ashley Eades scored first for the home side, before Jamie Vaughan replied for the visitors.
Manorbier United 2 Hubberston 0
Manorbier United picked up their sixth win of the season to move off the bottom of the table at the expense of Pendine.
Pembroke Boro 3 Saundersfoot Sports 1
Saundersfoot slumped tho their 17th defeat of the season and could only score once in reply to the three Boro goals. Daniel Lynch struck twice for Pembroke Boro and Darren Thomas picked up the other goal for Boro.
Tenby 3 Solva 4
This was a game which Tenby had to win to retain any realistic chance of promotion. Unfortunately the game was lost in the first 20 minutes when the visitors took a lead of two goals through Mathew Harries and Elliott. Jamie Robinson reduced the deficit with a penalty before half-time. In the second half, Solva struck twice again, with goals from Richard Edwards and Med George. Tenby came back and scored twice, with Mathew Jones and Dean Evans both being on target. However, both the equaliser and the winning goal proved to be elusive, although the Tenby players hit the posts and had shots cleared off the line. Once again Solva proved to be Tenby's bogey side and although it is theoretically possible for Tenby to gain promotion, they must rely on Neyland losing twice which may be a bit of a pipe dream.
