Division One
Narberth 4 Neyland 3
Although Narberth dominated most of the game somehow the visitors Neyland, stayed in contention until the final whistle. The visitors took the lead when Wayne Parry netted from a direct free kick, but the Bluebirds worked hard to equalise. Eventually the goal came when Richard Nash hit a first time effort in the top corner. In the second half David Gillard gave the Bluebirds an ideal start with an excellent header from a defence splitting run by Ralph Barnett. Within five minutes, the Bluebirds had increased the lead when Wayne Howells ran down the left beat two defenders and hit a low shot from the edge of the box. Narberth put their foot off the gas as they entered the comfort zone and paid the penalty when the defence was deceived by the bounce of the ball and John Jones nipped in to score with a header. Within minutes Neyland had equalised through Wayne Parry after Daniel James had received his marching orders for handling the ball. The Bluebirds continued to create chances and a superb solo effort by Ralph Barnett during which he beat four players clinched the game for the Bluebirds who withstood a late rally by the visitors. For Narberth, Ralph Barnett played well in midfield as did Charlie Smith at the back.
Carew 4 Tenby 1
Carew were up for it from the start and were spurred on by their memories of their heavy defeat in the corresponding fixture last season. Tenby enjoyed wind advantage in the first half, but it was Carew who scored first when Haydn Shapcott slotted home a long range header from a cross by James Buckle. After 20 minutes he picked up his second goal from a long ball over the top again after good work by James Buckle. Carew continued to attack with James Buckle and Sam Goodwin both having near misses. Carew 'keeper Ian Kerrison pulled off a good save at the start of the second half, but Tenby super sub Ryan Lawrence scored from a free kick after being brought down outside the box. Carew substitutes Tim Hicks and Neilson Cole both made an impact. James Buckle extended the lead in a move set up by Hugh Neale and Neilson Cole completed the scoring for the afternoon after being put through by Richard Bullock and Cole beat a defender before running into the box to score. Stephen Hanlon put in 100 per cent for the visitors and for Carew there were good performances by Keeron Stone, Martin Scourfield and Haydn Shapcott.
Merlin's Bridge 7 Saundersfoot Sports 0
Merlin's Bridge produced some quality football, but Sports put up a terrific fight in the first half and held the strong Bridge team to a lead of just one goal at the interval. Sports might have equalised but missed out on a one on one opportunity to level the scores. In the second half the visitors who were again below strength with key players missing in midfield and at the back found it difficult to contain the persistent Bridge attacks and by the final whistle Saundersfoot had conceded seven goals for the second game in succession. For the Bridge, there were two goals each for Nathan Thomas and Nico Algieri backed up by goals from Liam Arnold, Peter Jones and Simon Gilderdale.
Kilgetty 2 Goodwick United 2
The first half was fairly even. Both teams had half chances, but nothing was taken. Ten minutes into the second half Daniel Williams gave the visitors the lead, but Ollie Griffiths equalised after 25 minutes with a well worked goal. It started from the edge of the Kilgetty box involving Grant James and Geoff Marsh before the ball was released to Bobby Bevan on the right. He opened up the defence with a run down the flank and crossed the ball for Ollie Griffiths to score with a header. Five minutes later, Mike Beynon put Kilgetty in front when he chipped the 'keeper after being put through by Geoff Marsh, but within minutes Goodwick had equalised when Daniel Williams picked up his second goal of the match. It was nip and tuck in the closing stages, but Kilgetty held out for a draw with a solid team performance. Luke Reynolds and Duane Reynolds defended well and two teenagers Jason Jones and Johnny Wilson had impressive games at the back. Division Two
St. Clears 2 Milford Athletic 2
St. Clears were held to a draw at home to Milford Athletic. Both teams scored twice with Eddie Wiggins and Jason Baxter being the marksmen on target for the Saints.
Pendine 1 Predergast Villa 1
The Seagulls salvaged a point despite the fact that Villa were probably the batter team overall. The visitors put the Seagulls under pressure from the start and Ben Evans gave Villa the lead after 25 minutes. The visitors should have scored again, but had a goal disallowed then missed a penalty and shortly before half-time missed a golden opportunity to score in one on one situation . In the second half the Seagulls gradually exerted control and with 20 minutes of the match remaining Jack Morris scored when he ran on to a long ball from Justin Blewitt and rounded the 'keeper to equalise. The goal inspired the Seagulls and in the closing stages Villa found themselves under pressure, but just managed to hold on for a draw. It was a good team effort by Pendine who showed character in the way in which they stayed in the game. John Roberts had an excellent game in goal, Simon Evans was strong at the back and Justin Blewitt was all action in mid field. Division Three
Templeton 1 Haverfordwest Cricket Club 0
A swirling wind made playing conditions rather difficult, but Templeton were on top for most of the match. In the first half, Templeton squandered wind advantage by over kicking and Morgan Preece who caused problems throughout the afternoon came the closest to scoring with a free kick. In the second half, Templeton raised their game against the wind, but the winner was a long time in coming. However, five minutes before the final whistle skipper Jamie Bradfield was put through by Wayne Scourfield and Bradfield clinched the game for Templeton. Chris Frearson had a sound game at centre-half, Scott Pallas defended well at the back and Jason Oatley was never troubled in goal. St. Florence United 3 St. David's City 3
St. Florence looked the better team for most of the first half and it was something of a surprise when David Price put the visitors in front slightly against the run of play. No further goals were scored in the first half, but five goals were scored in the last 20 minutes. For St. Florence, Scott Smith used his pace to run on to a through ball firstly to equalise and then to put St. Florence in front. St. Florence extended the lead with a header by young full back Chris Johns. City were nor to be denied however and goals by Mathew Roberts and Tom Chalmers levelled the scores. St. Florence need to tighten up their defence for future matches. One of the highlights of the game was the performance of substitute Charlie Cowley playing in his first league game who set up the goal scored by Chris Johns. Manorbier United 2 Lawrenny 0
Lawrenny had wind advantage in the first half, but neither side was able to score and Manorbier found it quite difficult to play football as the wind was so strong. In the second half, David Merriman gave United the lead from a goal mouth scramble after a corner and James Hall put the result beyond doubt with a superb curling shot from just outside the box. For Manorbier, young Stephen Davies played well in defence whilst Gavin Evans and Sam Reeve were both industrious in midfield.
Reserve Division One
St. Ishmaels 3 Kilgetty 0
Kilgetty mounted a number of attacks but were unable to score. Sporting all rounder Daniel Flynn was the Tish hero after he completed a fine hat trick.
Saundersfoot Sports 0 Merlin's Bridge 7
Coincidentally the second team lost by the same margin against Merlin's Bridge in Reserve Division One as the first team did in Division One. Mathew D'ivory had a hat trick for the Bridge, Sean Halpin scored twice and there was a goal each for Jamie Jenkins and Johnny Gray.
Tenby 2 Narberth 10
The well organised Bluebirds outfit were too much of a hand full for a rather makeshift Tenby team who were out gunned on the day. Neverthless, Tenby opened the scoring through Johnny Badrock, but the visitors scored five goals in each half to the one goal in each half, scored by the Tenby team. For the Bluebirds, both Craig Hurst and Peter Phillips scored four times each supported by goals from Mathew Baxter and Harry Allen. Gavin Scotcher scored Tenby's second half goal. Milford Athletic 1 Carew 2
Although Carew played up the slope in the first half, the visitors had much of the game and for the first 20 minutes Athletic were all at sea. Simon Thomas opened the scoring for Carew, but later on in the half the Milford team got into the game and were awarded a penalty. A save by Carew goalkeeper Ben Evans was probably the turning point in the match. With 20 minutes of the match remaining a good left footed shot by Seb Palin when he picked up a cross from the right clinched the game for the visitors despite a late goal by Chris Thompson for Athletic. The win gave Carew their third victory in successive matches and they are level on points at the top of the table with Narberth and Monkton Swifts. Ben Evans had a solid game in goal for Carew.
Reserve Division Two
Hundleton 4 Pendine 4 The players had to contend with the swirling wind and rain in the first half and Hundleton were clearly on top. The visitors were trailing by two goals at the interval after successful strikes by Jamie Stanley, Darren Bateman, and Adam Marsden for Hundleton. The prolific scoring by Robbie Waters picked up one goal for the visitors. In the second half the Seagulls fought back. A goal by Stephen Jones reduced the deficit. Adam Marsden then scored his second for Hundleton before a penalty by Robbie Waters reduced the gap and then Waters completed his hat-trick to level the scores. For the Seagulls, the tackling and distribution of Darren Bridgeman and Justin Blewitt played a big part in the visitors having a share of the spoils.
Lawrenny 0 Clarbeston Road 2
Lawrenny went down by two clear goals at home to Clarbeston Road for whom Shaun Price and Mark Petrie were on target.
Hubberston 2 St. Clears 2
St. Clears started their away match at Hubberston well, but Hubberston had the lead at the interval through Paul Jones who capitalised on a defensive misunderstanding. Colin Reynolds equalised for the Saints in the second half after Steve Davies, Reynolds himself and Steve Aston came close to scoring. The Reynolds goal was set up by substitute Daniel Thomas, the Saints player manager with his first touch after getting on to the park and then a good run down the left by Ian Davies resulted in the visitors going into the lead after Davies beat two defenders to score. However, another defensive error by the Saints allowed Paul Jones to equalise. Although the Saints applied late pressure with both Daniel Thomas and Mel Lewis coming close to scoring the match ended in a draw. Left wing back Ian Davies was prominent for the visitors. Gareth Griffiths was energetic in midfield and James Carnell pulled off some good saves in goal.
Neyland 12 Manorbier United 0
A much depleted Manorbier team were on the back foot throughout the game. Andrew Slark and Shane Phillips each scored four goals for Neyland and there was a goal each for Graham Keen, Joe Howells, Nathan Warlow and Paul Davies.
MID-WEEK MATCHES
Division One
Kilgetty 2 Carew 1
Kilgetty had the slight edge in this local derby and deserved to win. No sooner had the match started than Mike Scale gave Kilgetty an early lead straight from the kick-off. Within minutes, Grant James extended the lead for Kilgetty with a great finish into the top of the net. Kilgetty had most of the play in the first half, but Carew forced a number of corners and Tim Hicks threatened to score with some good headers. Carew worked hard to get back into the game in the second half, but Kilgetty still attacked in numbers. With 10 minutes of the match remaining, Tim Hicks clawed back one goal for Carew when he pounced on a loose ball from a corner and James Buckle came closing to getting the equaliser for Carew.
Pennar Robins 2 Narberth 3
Narberth were two goals up at the interval and took a lead of three goals before the Robins came back into the game. The Bluebirds controlled the first half and could have scored more with David Gillard in his first game back and Richard Adams both making a difference to the cutting edge in attack. David Gillard gave the Bluebirds the lead after 10 minutes after a superb run down the right by Richard Adams and 10 minutes later Raff Barnett extended the lead again after some tremendous preparatory work by Adams. The Bluebirds could have score more, but missed out on a number of opportunities. In the second half, Richard Adams made it three for the visitors after beating two players before scoring. However, the Bluebirds took their foot off the gas and careless defence allowed Neil Griffiths to reduce the deficit. Griffiths picked up his second goal when he ran through the Narberth defence and although his shot was half saved he followed up to score on the rebound to complete the scoring for the afternoon. Richard Adams was outstanding up front. His partnership with David Gillard caused problems for the Robins' defence and Raff Barnett worked hard in midfield.
Merlins Bridge 2 Tenby 1
Young striker Liam Robson gave the visitors the lead when he took the ball down and lobbed the Bridge 'keeper. However in the second half, Carl Mason equalised for the Bridge and then from a goalmouth melee Nico Algieri clinched the game for the Bridge. Tenby did enough to at least have a share of the points if not win in an excellent all round team effort. However, the visitors paid the penalty for not taking their chances.
Camrose 7 Saundersfoot Sports 0
Saundersfoot Sports travelled to Camrose with a below strength team and paid the penalty for missing out on some scoring opportunities in the first half. In the second half it became more and more difficult for the visitors and eventually Camrose scored seven goals without conceding any in reply. Martin Tweedy bagged a hat trick, Adam Hawkins scored twice and there was a goal apiece for Adie Howarth and Steve James.
Division Two
Hubberston 1 St. Clears 1
St. Clears did enough to draw their away match at Hubberston, which was played at the Milford United ground. After 25 minutes Shaun Roberts gave Hubberston the lead with a goal from a corner, but with five minutes of the first half remaining the Saints equalised when Dean Glynn shot into the top corner after he ran on to a long throw in. In the second half Eddie Wiggins had a couple of chances for the Saints who gave away a penalty with 10 minutes of the match left. Fortunately the kick hit the bar and the Saints had a share of the spoils. Jason Baxter played well for St. Clears at centre half and Steve Trevitt worked his socks off on the left.
Johnston 2 Pendine 2
Simon Evans gave the Seagulls an early lead, but Jamie Picton equalised from the penalty spot for Johnston before Jim Payne gave the home team the lead at the interval. The Seagulls fought back in the second half and deserved to equalise when Peter Roberts found the back of the net. It was a good all round team performance by Pendine with John Roberts being a tower of strength in goal.
Reserve Division Two
Pendine 2 St. Clears 1
The Seagulls had the better of this local derby played during a very warm evening. Both teams produced some good football and Stephen Jones gave the Seagulls the lead towards the end of the first half. In the second half play moved quickly from end to end and Steve Aston took advantage of a defensive blunder to nip in to score from close range for the Saints. With five minutes of the match remaining the Seagulls snatched the winner in an exciting finish when a header from Justin Blewitt found its way into the back of the net in a goal which was judged to have been an own goal. The Saints were slightly below par on the evening, although Gareth Griffiths had a good game on the left side of midfield. It was a good team effort for Pendine with the Thomas brothers Paul and Robert putting in a solid performance at the back.
Fishguard Sports 1 Lawrenny 3
Lawrenny picked up three points in their away fixture against Fishguard Sports and were indebted to Alan Williams who was on target. Kevin Williams scored the solitary goal for Sports.
Clarbeston Road 6 Manorbier United 2
The visitors managed to score twice through John McKeown and Gavin Evans, but Clarbie found the back of the net six times. Both Nigel Lewis and David Davies scored two goals supported by strikes from Christian Griffiths and Mark Petrie.
