Division One
Neyland 2 Carew 2
Both teams found the pitch rather skiddy following the persistent drizzle and the visitors were sometimes on the back foot as Neyland mounted a series of attacks. Neither team was able to score in the first half although James Buckle, Tim Hicks and Sam Goodwin each had chances for Carew. Just before the interval Carew keeper Ian Kerrison pulled off a terrific save. After five minutes of the second half Sam Goodwin scored from close range following a corner by Huw Neale but five minutes later Neyland equalised through Andrew Ablitt. For a period Neyland took control of the mid field and the visitors lost their shape a little. With 15 minutes of the match remaining Gareth Hein drilled a low shot to put Neyland in front. However 10 minutes later James Buckle equalised with a header from a corner. During the closing stages, manager Gerald Hicks came on as a substitute and provided a steadying influence.
Herbrandston 2 Narberth 2
The Bluebirds produced an excellent first half performance and were rewarded with two goals. Richard Adams netted from the penalty spot when Narberth were awarded a penalty for hand ball after 20 minutes. Ten minutes later Adi Jones extended the lead with a header following good combination between Richard Adams and Jonathon Jones. In the second half Herbie fought back and were determined to equalise. Adam Galdo scored with a header from a free kick near the edge of the box and substitute Jamie Boswell levelled the scores. His initial shot was half saved but Boswell followed up to score on the rebound. Bluebird substitute Paul Phillips came close to scoring in the final stages but Herbie continued to apply pressure being particularly adept at the breakaway moves. Although Bluebirds manager Barry Walters was disappointed not to pick up three points he could not fault the effort of his players on the day.
Saundersfoot Sports 2 Hakin United 2
This was an excellent result for the Saundersfoot team who changed the formation to five three two because of player availability. The Vikings are a good footballing side and were quick on the break but Sports defended well. Andrew Hughes broke the deadlock after 30 minutes with a far post header to put Saundersfoot in front. In the second half the Vikings raised their game. However Sports continued to defend well and in fact extended their lead when Danny Caine was brought down in the box after making a lovely break. Mathew Skeils made no mistake from the penalty spot. However Hakin were not to be denied and scored twice in the last ten minutes through Kristan Bennett and Mike Cooper. It was a good team performance by Saundersfoot with goal keeper Daniel Brace making a number of outstanding saves. Tenby 2 KiLgetty 1
Tenby looked the better side in this local derby as Kilgetty were unable to repeat the quality of their mid week display against Monkton Swifts. Phil Catlin opened the scoring for Tenby with a block busting free kick after 30 minutes and no other goals were scored in the first half. Although the visitors improved in the second half Tenby continued to have the edge despite Grant James equalising from a goal mouth melee. Midway through the second half Liam Robson restored the advantage for Tenby following a move up the right and Tenby held on to the precious one goal lead until the final whistle. For Tenby Phil Catlin was sound at centre half, Ben Brooks steady at the back, Sam Edwards creative in mid field and Liam Robson lively up front.
Division Two
Pembroke Boro 4 St Clears 1
The Saints travelled to Pembroke Boro without any substitutes but nevertheless took the lead with a goal by Steve Trevitt. Gary John equalised for Boro before half time and in the last 30 minutes of the match Boro scored three goals through Simon Mathews, Richard Scourfield and Mathew Davies. Steve Trevitt and Jason Baxter both had good games for the Saints. Hubberston 1 Pendine 3
Wesley Reynolds gave the Seagulls the lead in the first half but Hubberston equalised before half time. In the second half Pendine got on top and regained the lead with a penalty form Lee Lewis. Any doubts about the final outcome were removed when Robert De Schoolmeester scored to give the Seagulls the points. For Pendine Simon Evans had a good game at centre half, Wesley Reynolds caused problems up front and Jack Morris worked hard in mid field.
Division Three
Lawrenny 0 Templeton 2
Templeton manager Nigel Thomas was delighted that the visitors produced a good performance for the full 90 minutes making it difficult for Lawrenny to create an impression. Both teams kept a clean sheet in the first half and Chris Frearson who has been converted from striker to centre half was particularly impressive for Templeton. Micky Phillips played well in mid field whilst up front Jamie Bradfield and Morgan Preece proved a bit of a handful with Preece lying just behind Bradfield. After 55 minutes Jamie Bradfield opened the scoring with a goal for the visitors from a one on one with the keeper. Lawrenny attempted to get back into the game but Jason Oatley who was the players' player of the year last season was in fine form in goal for Templeton. In the closing stages of the match Morgan Preece went through the defence and slotted the ball underneath the keeper's body. Paul Merriman came on as a substitute in the second half for Templeton playing in mid field and enjoyed his first game of football for four years. Manorbier United 5 Haverfordwest CC 2
The cricketers found themselves against a Manorbier team who were in full throttle. Although Danny Potter and Simon Thomas each scored a goal for the visitors Manorbier had a commanding win following strikes by Ben Hall, Dave Merriman, Ian Cather, James Hall and Austyn John.
St Florence 4 Lamphey 3
St Florence built up a lead of two goals at the interval following two strikes by Scott Smith and one by Jamie Roberts and the visitors replied with one goal. In the second half Lamphey reduced the deficit but Scott Smith completed a fine hat trick before a goal from the penalty spot by Dave Evans brought Lamphey back within touching distance. However St Florence held on to the one goal lead until the final whistle. Seventeen year old Chris Johns had an excellent game for St Florence at left back.
Reserve Division One
Kilgetty 2 Goodwick United 1
Following the disappointment of their performance at Monkton Swifts in the mid week fixture, Kilgetty re-grouped and worked hard for a home win against Goodwick United.
Narberth 3 Herbrandston 0
Both teams found it difficult to control the ball but nevertheless kept a clean sheet in the first half. The Narberth goals came in the last 20 minutes. Striker Peter Phillips scored the first following a long clearance and after being fed by Lee James. From that moment the Bluebirds were in control and followed up with a goal from mid fielder Robbie Brooks before Peter Phillips completed the scoring with a deflected free kick. Nigel Davies had a solid game as sweeper for Narberth.
Carew 2 Tenby 1
Carew had the better of the first half and deserved to be a goal up at half time after Simon Thomas scored mid way through the first half. In the second half the visitors played with more conviction and after 30 minutes scored when Johnny Badrock found the back of the net with a header. It was nip and tuck for most of the time after the scores had been levelled but with five minutes of the match left Carl Wainwright bagged the points for Carew with a speculative bicycle kick which managed to evade the clutches of Tenby keeper Lewis Hurlow. Reserve Division Two
Pendine 7 Prendergast Villa 2
The Seagulls scored five times in a cracking first half footballing display. Paul Thomas opened the scoring from a goal mouth scramble and then the prolific Robbie Waters scored four on the trot each time by using his pace to run on to a ball over the top of defence. Villa found the back of the net once with a goal by Adrian Harries. In the second half Robbie Waters scored two more goals to make his tally ten in two successive matches. Josh Arnold scored the second half goal for Villa. For the Seagulls Robert Pearce was a calming influence as sweeper, and Justin Blewitt had an all action game in mid field.
Milford United 10 Lawrenny 0
A depleted Lawrenny team had no answer to the Milford marauders who scored ten goals in total. Sean Barcoe, Jason Warlow and Mathew Salter each scored a brace of goals supplemented by goals from Andrew Davies, Mark McCarthy, Lee Dennison and Darryl McCarthy.
St. Clears 5 Pembroke Boro 2
The Saints dominated this match and took the lead in the first half firstly with a goal by Colin Reynolds followed up by a goal from Dan Steele which was set up by Gareth Griffiths. The Saints continued their good form in the second half. Colin Reynolds made it three with a half volley from the edge of the box into the top corner before Boro clawed back a goal through Peter Kingdom. Colin Reynolds fed Steve Aston who scored the fourth goal for St Clears and then Colin Reynolds completed a fine hat trick. Lee Callen reduced the deficit for the visitors with the final goal of the match. Gareth Griffiths had a good game in mid field for the Saints and the Phillips brothers, Rob and Steve worked hard at the back.
MID-WEEK MATCHES
Division One
Saundersfoot Sports 0 Carew 2
Saundersfoot Sports started strongly and used the long ball effectively. However slightly against the run of play the visitors took the lead after 20 minutes with a goal from Haydn Shapcott following good work by Richard Bullock. From that point Carew settled down and produced some quality football with Paul Bullock and Huw Neale combining well in mid field and the back four forming a solid unit. For the first 20 minutes of the second half Carew continued where they left off in the first half with Sam Goodwin going close to scoring. Sports also had some chances to score without finding the back of the net. In the last couple of minutes Carew scored a great goal which started with a save by goal keeper Ian Kerrison who fed skipper Darryl John. The move continued with Neil Morgan and Sam Goodwin having possession before Goodwin crossed to James Buckle who scored with a diving header.
Pennar Robins 0 Tenby 1
Tenby deserved to win this rather dour game as they were the better team on the night although the players in both teams were rather rusty. The winning goal came from an own goal following a defensive blunder by the Robins.
Camrose 2 Narberth 0
Each team cancelled out the other's attacks during the first half. Although the visitors played well they were unable to create any clear scoring opportunities. With 20 minutes of the match remaining substitute Adam Hawkins opened the scoring for Camrose who clinched the result when Adi Smith caught the Narberth defence napping with a breakaway goal.
Kilgetty 1 Monkton Swifts 2
Kilgetty were unlucky not to at least share the points with the visitors and many supporters considered that Kilgetty played well enough to win on the day. Ollie Griffiths gave Kilgetty a first half lead and Grant Lewis also hit the posts for Kilgetty in the first half. In the second half Kilgetty had a number of chances which should have been finished but Paul Lowe equalised for Swifts with a deflected goal after 30 minutes of the second half. Monkton predator Mathew Price gave his team the winner when he was on hand to tap in a low cross, which had been half saved by Kilgetty keeper Christian Phillips. Although the visitors did not depart with their tails between their legs they were certainly relieved to hear the referee blow the final whistle.
Division Two
Pendine 5 Letterston 1
The Seagulls took the lead through a goal by Jack Morris which was extended by a strike by Wesley Reynolds but Rob Couzens reduced the deficit before the interval for Letterston. In the second half the Seagulls piled on the pressure and created a number of goal scoring opportunities which were put away by Mathew Court and Simon Evans who capped a fine display with two goals.
St. Clears 0 Johnston 0
In a game which rarely sparkled there was little to chose between the two teams and in the end a draw was a fair result. The Saints had a couple of scoring opportunities with both Sam Thomas and Mark Snelling having near misses.
Reserve Division One
Monkton Swifts 5 Kilgetty 0
The visitors battled hard but were forced to succumb to the fire power of the Swifts who scored five goals. Ian Rome and Richard Hughes both scored twice and Benno Jones was also on target.
Carew 2 Saundersfoot Sports 1
Carew had the better of this local derby following goals by Carl Wainwright and Barry Evans. Jamie Morgan scored one goal for the visitors.
Narberth 9 Camrose 2
The Bluebirds were on top throughout this match and had scored seven goals by the interval. Adi Jones had completed a first half hat trick, striker Peter Phillips found the back of the net twice and other goals were scored by Nathan Evans and Robbie Brooks. For Camrose Adi Smith playing his second game on successive evenings against Narberth responded with two goals. Although Narberth continued to play excellent football in the second half only two more goals were added with Adi Jones scoring his fourth of the evening before Mathew Baxter made it nine for Narberth.
Tenby 5 Pennar Robins 3
Eight goals were produced in an exciting and quite even game with the young players in both teams creating an impression. The Robins had the better of the early exchanges with Gareth Stewart scoring with a good shot from the edge of the box followed up by the experienced Craig Manning with a near post goal from a breakaway movement. Tenby rallied and equalised before the interval. Both goals were scored by Mathew Broadhurst, the first from close range and the second when he lobbed the keeper from a corner. Tenby went ahead following the interval through an own goal and Johnny Badrock used his pace to extend the lead. The visitors fought back with a goal by Wayne Boswell but a penalty from Liam Robson put the result beyond doubt when he netted Tenby's fifth goal of the evening.
Reserve Division Two
Letterston 2 Pendine 4
The Seagulls produced an excellent performance at Letterston with Robbie Waters scoring all four goals whilst John Williams and Mike Williams picked up a goal each for Letterston. Robbie Waters had the golden touch with his boots for Pendine, Gareth Kaye had a solid game in defence and the visitors produced a top quality all round performance.
St Clears 1 Johnston 2
Clive Reynolds opened the scoring to give the Saints a lead of one goal at the interval. Unfortunately after the break St Clears were guilty of making some defensive errors which allowed Mark Sture and Ben Skudder to nip in to score for the visitors. The winner came in the last ten minutes after a period of sustained pressure. Fishguard Sports 2 Manorbier United 2
Manorbier United had a promising start in comparison with their performance last season and held on to a draw in this away match against Fishguard Sports. Carl Lewis and Dean Drummond got the goals for Sports and Hawkes found the back of the net twice for Manorbier.
