It is not generally known that the West Wales section of Cor Meibion De Cymru meets each Wednesday evening at 7.30 pm in the Bloomfield Community Centre, Narberth, for their weekly choir practice. Every third Sunday, the section travels to Cwmavon Community Centre, near Port Talbot, for a full choir rehearsal, under the conductor Elaine Robins. The West Wales group is led by Juliet Rossiter. Several of the group are members of local choirs, namely Pembroke, Tenby and Whitland Male Choirs. All that is needed to join the section is a love of singing, and the desire to join a friendly and sociable group. The choir has recently sung in concert in Cheltenham Town Hall, Romsey Abbey and Haverfordwest. Future concerts are planned for Fishguard, St. Davids Cathedral, Wantage and Brecon. The choir has circled the globe in the last 25 years, visiting USA, Canada, Australia, Mexico, as well as extensive tours of Europe. In 2008, the choir plans to visit St. Albans Cathedral for the first time. An overseas tour to Cyprus is also in the pipeline. New members are always welcome at the Bloomfield Community Centre.
