A unique singing festival based in Pembrokeshire has recently wowed audiences, in part thanks to the support of Valero Pembroke Refinery. The Narberth A Cappella Voice Festival is the only event of its kind in Wales, celebrating the diversity of singing without instruments.
Recently held in the Queens Hall, Narberth, the festival aims to bring the appeal of a cappella to as wide an audience as possible, and this year included acts such as Côrdydd, Camilo Menjura, the South African Zulu Male Choir and winners of BBC Two’s The Naked Choir with Gareth Malone, The Sons of Pitches, whose Saturday night performance was sponsored by Valero.
Valero refinery public affairs manager, Stephen Thornton, said: “The Pembrokeshire cultural scene is a real hidden gem, and Valero is committed to supporting the arts to flourish for the benefit of all of our communities. That is why we were delighted to be able to be a sponsor of this year’s Narberth A Cappella Voice Festival. With so much talent on display here in the heart of West Wales as a result of this festival, Valero continues to be immensely impressed by the important work done by Span Arts to bring arts to the whole community.”
Gwen Watson, Span Arts manager, said: “The Narberth A Cappella Voice Festival has developed into a highly acclaimed annual event, which pushes the boundaries of a cappella music and brings a truly diverse set of performances to audiences here in Pembrokeshire. We are always very grateful to our supporters without whose help this event would not be possible, and we are thrilled that Valero were able to sponsor one of our most highly anticipated performances at this year’s festival.”
