The local Tenby and Saundersfoot Macmillan Cancer Support committee met recently to pay tribute to the retiring chair, Lady Penelope Meyrick. Cynthia Scourfield-Lewis, the president of the local association, gave a well-deserved vote of thanks for Lady Meyrick's commitment and hard work over the previous two years. During this time, Lady Meyrick and her team of dedicated committee members and helpers have worked tirelessly to raise much-needed funds for the benefit of people in Pembrokeshire who have been touched by cancer in whatever capacity. Lady Meyrick will be succeeded in January by Pauline Davies, who intends to build on these very firm foundations, and it is hoped that the local community will continue to support this very good cause in 2008. The group has a friendly and welcoming group of helpers and would warmly welcome anyone who felt able to offer support as a volunteer.
