The Pembroke and Pembroke Dock Lions Club is taking part in a global community celebration to highlight the work done by millions of local volunteers – including Lions members – to serve people, projects, and good causes.
President of Pembroke and Pembroke Dock Lion, Vicky Wilson said: “We are grateful to have the support of our local community to make a difference as Lions.
“By taking part in the ‘Celebrate Community’ initiative we are joining with local volunteers across the world to show how together we tackle common problems that affect people wherever they live.
“We’d like to celebrate in particular 1st Pembroke Scout Group, Aldi, Pembroke Town Hall, Phil Evans, and Tesco, for their support with Lions community service work so far this year.
“Working in partnership is essential whether Lions are providing humanitarian support, improving the environment, delivering community services, organising events, or raising funds for important causes.
“Together the impact we make improves the lives of individuals, families, groups, and whole communities.”

Alongside a focus on local community service, Lions get involved with five common causes - sight, diabetes, hunger, the environment, and childhood cancer.
Lions Clubs of the British Isles are part of Lions International which has 1.4 million members in 49,000 clubs, based in over 200 countries, making it the largest service club organisation in the world.
Wherever you live, work or travel, you are likely to come across members of Lions clubs and the projects we support.
Lions are ordinary people who do extraordinary things to help others and support good causes. Globally they have more volunteers in more places than any other service club organisation. They love to help others and make things happen.
Every day Lions are having fun by organising remarkable and memorable fundraising activities.
Every year, in Europe alone, Lions Clubs members volunteer almost 6 million hours of service and raise £88 million annually to support the needs of local communities.
