DIVISION ONE

St. Ishmaels 1 Saundersfoot Sports 1

Saundersfoot dominated the first half and created several chances with the benefit of the wind at their backs.

Conditions were very wet, but both Steve Davies and Jason Bridges came close to scoring. The Tish defenders worked tirelessly and were able to keep a clean sheet before the interval.

In the second half, Tish enjoyed the wind advantage and the visitors were on the back-foot for the first 20 minutes. However, Sports soaked up the pressure and in fact took the lead.

The ball came into the box from the right and was half cleared, but Steve Ruff was on hand to find the corner of the net from 18 yards through a crowd of defenders.

Despite taking the lead, the visitors found it hard going in the second half as Tish dictated most of the play and the Saundersfoot team were indebted to Russell Evans at centre half and Jason Llama for their defensive work.

Eventually, the Tish pressure paid off and Adam Davies created a goal when he beat two Saundersfoot defenders before putting in his shot. Although the shot was half parried by Daniel Brace, Steffan Harteveld was on hand to tap the ball in from close range.

It was a game which the visitors could have won, but in the end each team settled for a point.

Simon Cole and Danny Caine in midfield made significant contributions for Saundersfoot.

Carew 7

Prendergast Villa 0

Carew's revival continued with a comprehensive home win against Prendergast Villa.

Carew dominated the entire game by creating chances and finishing crisply with goals in each half.

Mike Lewis picked up the first goal after 10 minutes from a good corner kick by Paul Bullock.

James Buckle extended the lead with a first time spectacular volley from a precision free-kick by Rob Scourfield and the home team were three goals up at the interval when Carl Wainwright finished a one-to-one opportunity.

Four more goals followed in the second half, with both James Buckle and Carl Wainwright getting their second goal of the match. Wainwright's goal was a terrific solo effort.

Two Carew substitutes then got in on the act, with Ian Sefton getting the first with a terrific finish and then Seb Palin, having warmed up earlier by playing for the reserve team, made it seven for Carew.

Paul Bullock had an influential game in the centre of midfield, while Carl Wainwright and James Buckle did a fine demolition job on the Villa defence.

Narberth 2 Tenby 1

Striker David Gillard gave the Bluebirds the lead after 10 minutes. The goal was created by the skill of Ritchie Adams who went past two defenders before passing the ball to Gillard.

Gillard also scored the second goal 10 minutes before the interval. Again Ritchie Adams was involved in a move where he linked up with Mathew Lloyd down the right. The ball was played to Marc Hughes, who squared it to Gillard and the striker finished clinically.

In the second half, the Bluebirds lost Mathew Lloyd and Craig Hurst to injury and were unable to find the same rhythm as they showed in the first half.

The visitors put the Bluebirds under considerable pressure and deserved to claw a goal back when Scott McLaughlin picked up a through ball to score.

Had it not been for the goalkeeping skills of Huw Davies, Tenby could have equalised or even taken the lead. However, the Bluebirds managed to hold on to their slender lead and hold out for a win.

SECOND DIVISION CUP (FIRST ROUND)

Pendine 1

Pembroke Boro 1

Although classed as a home fixture, the match was played at Pembroke Boro as Pendine's pitch was waterlogged.

The Seagulls took some time to find their feet on dry land as most of the team were playing their first game for about six weeks.

Although the visitors dominated proceedings for most of the match, the failure to score from chances cost them dearly and the match will be replayed again next Saturday.

The visitors should have secured the game in the first half with the number of chances created. The Seagulls had wind advantage in the first half, with Paul Evans, Chris Hastings and Rob de Schoolmeester each coming close on more than one occasion, but the only goal came from a free-kick by Roger Hunt.

The Seagulls' 'keeper, Mark Doble, had been idle for most of the game as the Boro attacks were few and far between.

However, shortly before the final whistle, Pembroke Boro were awarded a penalty and Jason Beynon scored to earn a replay next weekend.

Striker Paul Evans had an impressive game and will surely find his scoring touch with more match practice.

Pendine's strength lay at the back, with Damien Bridgeman, Paul Langdon, Stuart Morris and Lee Lewis presenting a formidable barrier whenever Boro attacked.

DIVISION TWO

Manorbier United 0 Lawrenny 1

Lowly Lawrenny had the better of this basement battle to register their second win of the season. However, it was a rather lacklustre game, with both teams playing below par.

Poor finishing let both teams down and Manorbier had the slight edge in the first half by creating more goal scoring opportunities, but players of both teams were guilty of missing chances.

The only goal of the match came after 15 minutes of the second half. Lawrenny substitute Phil Cole beat two defenders and then crossed the ball to Jim Kinnear who found the back of the net from six yards.

Lawrenny came close to extending the lead, but it was Manorbier who finished strongly and would have equalised had it not been for the agility of Lawrenny 'keeper Stephen Cole.

Milford United 0 Kilgetty 2

Kilgetty kept in the promotion hunt with a comfortable away win at Milford United without ever producing their best form.

The visitors had the benefit of the wind in the first half, although play was fairly even for the first 30 minutes.

Super striker Mike Beynon gave Kilgetty the lead 10 minutes before half-time when he hammered home a ball in a move initiated by Grant James and Mike Scale.

United fought strongly for the first 20 minutes of the second half, but when Mike Beynon was brought down in the box he secured a win for the visitors from the penalty spot.

St. Clears 2 Hubberston 3

The Saints paid the penalty for making too many defensive errors.

Careless play in defence allowed Hubberston to sneak in to take the lead.

However, St. Clears appeared to rectify the situation when Diean Glynn equalised and then took the lead when the visitors were pressurised into conceding an own goal after good work by Eddie Wiggins down the right.

Striker Sam Thomas came close to scoring twice, but the Hubberston 'keeper pulled off good saves.

Early in the second half, Hubberston equalised and then another defensive blunder 10 minutes before the end allowed the Hubberston striker in for his second goal of the match.

Although the Saints applied some late pressure, they failed to score.

St. Clears played well enough to deserve a point, apart from making the fatal defensive errors.

Alec Weston was sound at centre half, while Sam Thomas and Eddie Wiggins were a lively pair up front.

THIRD DIVISION (SECOND ROUND)

Haverfordwest County 4

St. Florence 1

St. Florence kept the County goal scorers in check during the first half, which ended with the scores level at one goal apiece.

Matthew Fox netted for County, but Paul Davies equalised for the Saints.

In the second half, the Haverfordwest team got on top and the visitors ran out of steam. A goal by Michael Morgan put County in front and a double strike by Andrew Sargeant made sure that the Saints' dreams of Cup glory will have to be put on hold until next season.

RESERVE DIVISION ONE

Johnston 0

Narberth 2

Although Johnston are struggling for survival in Reserve Division One, they played much better in this game than in the corresponding fixture at Narberth earlier in the season. Indeed, with the character and commitment displayed in this match, they could move up the table.

Narberth created most of the scoring opportunities in the first half, with Simon Evans, Chris O'Connell and Adrian Howells each coming close to scoring, before Nigel Thomas gave the Bluebirds the lead.

A long throw by Ian Hughes was nodded on by the accurate head of Nigel Davies and Nigel Thomas was in a position to take full advantage of the opportunity to score.

Narberth were on top for most of the second half, but the Johnston defenders battled hard to prevent a goal glut.

However, the Bluebirds did manage to find the back of the net when player manager Adrian Howells outwitted a couple of Johnston defenders before putting a low ball into the box where Nigel Williams had moved up and he was able to chip the Johnston 'keeper.

Saundersfoot Sports 1 Merlin's Bridge 1

Saundersfoot pulled out all the stops to win a point in this encounter through a great team effort.

The first half was all-action, end-to-end stuff and the Bridge went in front after 20 minutes.

The move started in midfield and Mathew D'Ivory finished in style with a shot from just outside the 18-yard box.

Both teams overcame the muddy conditions to produce some quality football.

In the second half, the visitors applied the pressure and produced some quality football. However, Saundersfoot 'keeper Barry Phillips was in excellent form and pulled off some cracking saves.

With 20 minutes of the match remaining, Sports drew level with a goal by David Douglas Law. The move started inside the Saundersfoot half and Wayne Callen put a bouncing ball into the box, where Douglas Law was on hand to score with a header.

Sports might have increased the lead, but the Bridge 'keeper pulled off a good save to prevent Douglas Law from claiming his second goal of the match.

With 15 minutes remaining, each team had a player red-carded. The Bridge continued to search for the winner which proved to be elusive and Barry Phillips kept the Saundersfoot team in the game with some top class goalkeeping.

Carew 1

Pennar Robins 4

With seven first and second team squad players injured, the Carew team had a rather disjointed look in this match and it came as little surprise when Wayne Boswell put the Robins in front in the first half.

At the start of the second half, Seb Palin created a chance and substitute Simon Thomas did well when he followed up to equalise.

Robins regained the lead through a goal by Darren Davies, but Carew almost equalised when Sammy Goodwin had a number of good runs when he sliced through the Robins defence.

Two Carew players were replaced when they moved to the adjoining pitch as first team substitutes and the further disruption did not help the Carew cause.

Robins claimed two late goals, with Darren Davies adding to his earlier goal and Wayne Boswell also picked up his second of the game.

It was not the best performance by Carew this season, but Mathew Phillips was able to hold his head above the parapet with some good saves to restrict the scoring opportunities for the Robins.

Kilgetty 4 Tenby 4

Coincidently, the final score in this match was exactly the same as the league fixture between the two clubs in Tenby earlier in the season.

Kilgetty took an early lead when Alan Williams found the back of the net from 20 yards with a half volley and shortly afterwards Duane Rossiter was able to extend the lead.

Mike Evans clawed one back for the visitors with a left-footed shot which went through a crowded box and then when Lee Watts handled the ball inadvertently, Liam Robson was able to equalise for Tenby from the penalty spot.

Play moved quickly from end to end, but Tenby nudged in front for the first time when Liam Culshaw ran on to a through ball and beat 'keeper David Lewis in a one-to-one situation.

Kilgetty came back with a goal by Tommy Howells from a Jamie Morgan cross and then in the last minute of the first half, Tim Scale regained the lead for Kilgetty with a superb header after a break by Richard Griffiths down the right.

After five minutes of the second half, Tenby had equalised through Tony Beare and surprisingly that goal completed the scoring for the afternoon.

It did not stop the action, as the game continued to be played at a frantic pace. Both 'keepers were called into action, with Lewis Hurlow pulling off a good save from a free-kick by Jamie Morgan and David Lewis doing the business the other end, especially when he tipped a curling shot by Nick Webster Smith over the bar.

The pitch got progressively heavier, but both teams continued to display their footballing skills.

For Kilgetty, Chris May and Ian Lewis were sound at the back, while for Tenby both Steve Williams and David Otton had key games in midfield.

RESERVE DIVISION TWO

Camrose 5 St. Clears 0

The Saints crashed to defeat at Camrose in the top-of-the-table Reserve Division two clash and as a result, Camrose have taken over the lead in the table.

It was a disappointing performance by the Saints, but Jason Owen, deputising between the sticks, turned out to be the Saints' man-of-the-match, despite the scoreline. In the first half he made an outstanding save from a penalty, as well as preventing other balls from getting in to the back of the net.

Camrose took a first half lead after a goal by Mike Williams, but straight from start of the second half, John Reagan extended the lead and from that point Camrose took control.

They played some good football with a tight-knit defence, so that the Saints were forced to rely on long range efforts to score.

Goals for the Saints proved to be elusive, but Camrose struck with three more goals. Kristian Griffiths, Stuart Phillips and Ian Cahill each scored to take the Camrose total to five and, although the Saints battled hard, they were forced to concede defeat.

Letterston 3 Manorbier United 0

Manorbier are still waiting for their first win of the season, although manager Martin O'Connor remains optimistic and is certain that the first win is 'just around the corner'.

The visitors held their own in the first half and were unlucky not to score, with Jack Whalley being the closest when he hit the upright.

Letterston were kept at bay until the closing stages, but scored three times in the last 25 minutes.

Paul Taylor scored two and the other goal was scored by John Llewellyn.

For Manorbier, goalkeeper Tom Christopher played well, Adi Atwell looked solid at the back and Gavin Evans worked hard in midfield.

Lawrenny 1 Hundleton 1

A strong wind played an important factor in this match, with both teams scoring during the half when they had wind advantage.

Lawrenny had the bulk of possession in the first half and were in the lead at the interval following a goal by Wayne Jones. It was a tremendous finish by Jones, who picked up a long ball from the back and went through two defenders before defeating the Hundleton 'keeper.

Martin Lewis also came close to extending the lead with a header and just before half-time Lawrenny 'keeper David Cole pulled off a point blank save to prevent the visitors from equalising with a header.

In the second half, Lawrenny were on the back-foot most of the time as Hundleton applied the pressure.

The visitors almost equalised with a long range free-kick which hit the post and with 15 minutes of the match remaining, Hundleton eventually equalised.

David Cole in the Lawrenny goal dived to save a shot, but it was deflected by a defender into the back of the net.

David McBean stood out at the heart of the Lawrenny defence and David Cole had an impressive game in goal.
