Kilvey Athletic 8 Kilgetty 3

A depleted Kilgetty team travelled to play Kilvey Athletic in the second round of the West Wales Intermediate Cup and were well beaten by a far superior team, who play in Division One of the Swansea League.

Kilvey were two goals up in five minutes and looked very sharp throughout the match.

Kilgetty trailed by four goals to one at half-time, with Duane Reynolds being on target for the visitors.

In the second half, Kilvey Athletic scored four more goals and Kilgetty replied with goals from Bobby Bevan and by Jamie Morgan, who scored from the penalty spot.

Division One

Pennar Robins 1 Narberth 5

Narberth found the back of the net five times and only conceded one goal in reply in a performance described by manager Barry Walters as being "the best for a while." However, Walters went on to caution that Narberth have a number of hard games coming up, so the players need to keep their feet firmly planted on the ground.

The Robins were reduced to 10 players after 20 minutes after a red card had been produced and the visitors soon capitalised with two fine strikes in quick succession by David Gillard.

At the start of the second half, the Robins fought back strongly and deserved to score through Mike Canton. However, within minutes, the three goals advantage had been regained when David Gillard completed his hat-trick.

In the closing stages of the game, a header by Craig Hurst from a corner increased the lead and the fifth goal came when Mathew Lloyd saw his shot deflected into the back of the net by a Robins defender.

After the scoring had been completed, the Robins were reduced to eight players when two more red cards were issued.

Although it was a good team performance by the Bluebirds, David Lee had an excellent game at fullback and Wayne Howells continued with his fine form of the season playing in midfield.

Saundersfoot Sports 3 Tenby 5

Saturday's local Derby between Saundersfoot and Tenby was an exciting affair and the visitors came out on top after raising their game in the second half.

In the first half, Saundersfoot had the better of the proceedings and took the lead through Stephen Davies with a ball over the top.

A penalty by Phil Catlin equalised for the visitors, but Sports regained the advantage before the interval with a strike by Darren Umanee, set up following some clever work between Jason Bridges and Danny Caine.

In the second half, Tenby produced some really good football and gradually got on top.

Gavin Scotcher had luck on his side when he equalised and then the visitors took the lead with successive goals by Steve Hanlon and David Day.

These two goals knocked the stuffing out of Saundersfoot and heads dropped. Substitute Ryan Lawrence then added a fifth goal for Tenby, before Saundersfoot substitute Phillip Jones completed the scoring for the afternoon with a last minute header from a corner.

Ryan Lawrence came on as a substitute for Tenby 35 minutes from the end of the match and played a big role in giving the visitors the advantage with his probing runs up front.

With 10 minutes of the match remaining, Tenby's Ben Brooks received his marching orders from the referee.

Division Two

Manorbier United 5 St. Clears 3

In a game between two evenly matched teams, Manorbier United took control midway through the second half to gain their first win of the season.

Rob Thomas gave Manorbier the lead after 30 minutes, but for the remainder of the first half, play moved from end to end, but both defences held firm.

At the start of the second half, a cracking volley by Rob Thomas inside the box increased the lead for Manorbier, before Eddie Wiggins scored for the Saints from the penalty spot.

The scores were levelled when Craig Swanborough scored for St. Clears, but Phil Christopher regained the lead for Manorbier after running onto the ball when he was put through in midfield.

Rob Thomas scored from the penalty spot for Manorbier to notch up the first hat-trick of his career and then striker James Hall increased the lead to three goals.

However, Eddie Wiggins picked up his second goal of the match for the visitors when he got the ball over the line from a goalmouth scramble.

Pendine 4

Hubberston 3

The Seagulls had the better of a high scoring game at home to Hubberston. The two goals by prolific scoring Robert de Schoolmeester backed up by a strike from Chris Hastings and an own goal put Pendine on top.

For Hubberston, Mark Khan scored twice and there was also a goal by Greg MacIntosh.

Lawrenny 1

Pembroke Boro 5

For the first hour of this match, play was fairly even, but a disappointing performance by Lawrenny for most of the second half allowed the visitors to score four goals after both teams had scored once in the first half.

Boro took the lead after 15 minutes with a goal by Jason Beynon, but Stephen Lewis was on target after 25 minutes for Lawrenny to draw the scores level and there were no further goals for the remainder of the first half.

For the opening 15 minutes of the second half, there was little to chose between the two teams. However, Lawrenny appeared to run out of steam and Boro found the back of the net four times, with two goals by Gary John supplemented by goals by Steve Mackeen and Neil Lewis.

Division Three

Haverfordwest CC 2 St. Florence 2

When St. Florence were two goals up in the first 20 minutes, it looked as if they had left their disappointing away form behind.

Scott Smith scored the first goal for the Saints, followed by a goal by Paul Davies.

Unfortunately, just on the stroke of half-time the Cricketers pulled one back with a goal by Dai Davies.

In the second half, the Saints were disappointing and the Cricketers took control. With 20 minutes of the match remaining, Neil Crawford equalised and the home team were unfortunate to have a 'goal' disallowed in the last minute of the match.

Reserve Division One

Tenby 9

Prendergast Villa 1

Tenby had much the better of this basement battle at the bottom of the table and picked up their first win of the season in emphatic fashion.

It was the day when everything clicked for the Tenby team, who fielded the strongest side available to date this season.

Jack Christopher opened the scoring, followed by a penalty by Liam Robson.

Robson picked up his second goal when a defender headed the ball out after a corner kick and Robson hit a cracking volley to deceive the Villa 'keeper.

Jack Christopher's second goal put Tenby four goals in front at the interval.

At the start of the second half, a penalty by Villa's Tom Goran gave the visitors their first goal, but any hopes of a recovery were quickly dashed when both Liam Robson and Jack Christopher completed their hat-tricks for the afternoon.

The next goal was scored by former Tenby rugby player Mike Evans, and it was his first goal for the club, much to the delight of his team-mates.

Before the final whistle came, there were further goals for Tenby by Jack Christopher and Nick Webster Smith.

It was a good all-round team performance by Tenby and 16-year-old twin strikers Liam Robson and Jack Christopher had an afternoon to remember.

Johnston 1 Kilgetty 4

Kilgetty had a hard earned win at Johnston in an uncompromising match.

Sam Coleman gave the visitors the lead in the first half, although Johnston came close to equalising a number of times and on one occasion Simon Wood was forced to clear the ball off the line for Kilgetty.

The visitors attacked whenever possible and Lucas Gamble, Tim Scale and Adam Thorne each came close to extending the lead.

Adam Thorne and Tim Scale had been in stunning form during the first half and in the second half Scale extended the lead following a clever move involving the pair.

Shortly afterwards, Scale scored again, although Kilgetty could not discount a counter-attack by Johnston.

When Jamie Picton scored from the penalty spot for Johnston, the home team had new heart and put the visitors under pressure.

After weathering the storm, Kilgetty came back into the game once again and Richard Griffiths poached the fourth goal with an acute angle shot from the deadball line.

It was a committed performance by the Kilgetty team, with Sam Coleman shining in midfield, while left-back Chris May did not put a foot wrong throughout the game.

Merlin's Bridge 2 Carew 1

Despite losing, mid-table Carew put up their best performance of the season, especially in the second half, against top of the table Merlin's Bridge and went down by just one goal.

The visitors took the lead with a goal by Steve Keating from a corner after 25 minutes. However, with the last kick of the first half, Carew suffered a body blow. Carew had been attacking, but the Bridge broke from the back and a long ball from the halfway line was met with perfect timing by Mathew Morrissey to equalise.

In the second half, the experienced Tony Jones came on as a substitute for the Bridge with 20 minutes left. He caused Carew problems from the start and clinched the game for the Bridge with a powerful header.

Narberth 5

St. Ishmaels 2

Tish paid the penalty of travelling to Narberth with 10 players, but nevertheless put up a good fight throughout the match.

The visitors took an early lead through Daniel Flynn, but Gavin Smith equalised for the Bluebirds when he picked up a cross from Phillip Scourfield.

Further Narberth goals followed in the first half from Paul Phillips into the top corner and Daniel James after a one-two with Peter Phillips.

In the second half, Paul Phillips extended the lead for Narberth, but a long range effort by Gareth McKeown for the visitors reduced the deficit.

Mike Johns was forced into emergency service as a goalkeeper for Narberth and pulled off a number of good saves, Paul and Peter Phillips were a lively duo up front and there were good performances in midfield from Adrian Howells, Daniel James, Phillip Scourfield and Chris Morris.

Herbrandston 1 Saundersfoot Sports 6

After a fairly even start, Gary Cunningham gave Saundersfoot the lead 15 minutes into the game. Although Herbie equalised, a run deep into the Herbie half by Barry Phillips gave Phillips the chance to cross the ball for Ben Graham to head home to put the visitors in front.

In the second half, it became very one-sided as Sports took the game to Herbie.

Damian Keight extended the lead for Sports and then added three more for good measure.

Sports dominated the second half to such an extent that 'keeper Peter Rattenbury did not get a touch of the ball.

For Saundersfoot, there were impressive performances from strikers Gary Cunningham and Damian Keight, with Ben Graham prominent in midfield.

Reserve Division Two

Pembroke Boro 3 Lawrenny 0

Lawrenny found Boro too strong on the day as Willie Wallace, Lee Lavill and Marcus Cunningworth scored the three goals for Boro.

St. Clears 6 Manorbier 1

St. Clears took an early lead through Colin Reynolds and his father Clive extended the lead before the break.

At the start of the second half, Clive Reynolds continued his first half form with two more goals to complete his hat-trick, followed by a strike by Alan Fitzpatrick.

Manorbier struck back with a goal from Adrian Atwell, before Jonathan Pearson rounded off the scoring for the afternoon to claim the sixth goal for the Saints, who had been bolstered on the day, by the return of Mel Lewis in defence.
