Division One

Prendergast Villa 3 Tenby 0

Although Tenby played well in the first half, Villa took their chances and scored twice following strikes by Jason Disley and Steven Britton.

A goal by Guy White for Prendergast Villa in the second half completed the scoring for the afternoon.

Although the Tenby players were disappointed to go down to their fifth defeat in six games, there were some encouraging signs. Dave Rogers held the team together at centre back and David Day was prominent in defence and attack in midfield.

Saundersfoot Sports 0 Herbrandston 2

Saundersfoot had some good chances in the first half. In particular, midfielder Darren Umanee was a real livewire and got behind the Herbie defence a number of times, but was unable to find the back of the net.

Herbie took the lead before the end of the first half when Clive Marshallsay took advantage of some slipshod defending.

In the second half, Herbie had the slight edge and Alex Galdo was on hand to increase the lead with an 18-yard shot after Saundersfoot had failed to clear the ball properly from a corner.

Daniel Brace pulled off some good saves in goal and Jason Llama was also prominent in defence.

Division Two

Pendine 1 Neyland 1

A draw was a fair result in this evenly contested game, with both goals being scored by a Pendine player.

Paul Langdon gave the Seagulls the lead after 30 minutes with a well-judged header after a precision free-kick from the halfway line by Lee Lewis.

Unfortunately for Lewis, he also conceded an own goal five minutes before the interval during a defensive misunderstanding.

Both teams had chances to score in the second half, but were unable to convert chances into goals.

For Pendine, Craig Davies returned to league action after a premature retirement and played soundly at left-back, while Robert De Schoolmeester was moved back into midfield for this match and had an excellent game.

Lawrenny 3

Milford Athletic 2

Lawrenny manager Andrew Cole was extremely happy with this result, although disappointed that his players let the visitors back into the game in the last eight minutes with two late goals.

Lawrenny dominated the first half and took the lead when Phil Cole scored after receiving a long ball from Steve Lewis, which Cole rifled into the far corner from the edge of the box.

Sion Jenkins scored the next goal when Andrew Cole received the ball from a short corner and then put Jenkins in position to score with a cracking shot.

The visitors played with more conviction in the second half, but Lawrenny extended the lead when Steve Lewis ran in from midfield to pick up a ball by Stephen Jenkins after a break down the line.

Lawrenny had their backs to the wall for the last 10 minutes of the match and Milford Athletic broke through the defensive cover twice with goals from Steve Kenyon and Dai Davies.

For Lawrenny, Robert Williams made a welcome return to league action after his honeymoon and played well at centre half, while his cricketing colleague Steve Lewis was dynamic in midfield.

Reserve Division One

Tenby 0

Monkton Swifts 3

The first half was very even with both teams having chances, which were not taken. Monkton took the lead with five minutes of the first half remaining.

In the second half, Monkton applied the pressure to increase the lead, but Tenby held on bravely until Monkton scored their third goal minutes before the final whistle.

Tenby were kept in the game through gritty defending by Martin Kinsey, Tony Beare, Mark James and Stuart McLaren, while substitute Lloyd Goforth showed some promising touches up front during the last 20 minutes of the game.

Goodwick United 2 Carew 1

This was a much better performance by the Carew team who took the lead after 20 minutes with an excellent left-footed shot from a free-kick by Ceri Bradley.

Most of the chances were created by Carew in the first half but there was no addition to the scoreline.

At the start of the second half, Darren John equalised from the penalty spot and Haydn Shapcott received a red card for an accidental handball.

Steve Summers scored the winner for Goodwick in his first game back following injury with a break down the right as Carew found it increasingly difficult to defend with just 10 players.

Mathew Phillips pulled off some good saves in goal, Ceri Bradley worked hard up front and Haydn Shapcott worked tirelessly on the left of midfield until that unfortunate incident.

Herbrandston 1 Narberth 1

The Bluebirds took the lead in the first half when striker Peter Phillips latched on to a ball in the box put through by Adrian Howells and beat the goalkeeper, hitting the ball on the half-volley.

In the second half, Herbie equalised with a free-kick from Steve Hastings, as Narberth were unable to take advantage of the chances created to get back into the game.

Peter Phillips posed problems as usual up front, Jonathan Jones was effective in midfield and there were also good performances by Chris Morris, Mathew Johns and Nigel Thomas.

Merlins Bridge 2 Saundersfoot Sports 0

The Bridge had the upper hand from the start of the match and maintained the pressure on Saundersfoot from start to finish.

Richard Davies gave the Bridge the lead in the first half with a lofted shot, which was aided by the wind into the back of the net.

In the second half, Mathew Morrissey scored a cracking goal to extend the lead and Saundersfoot squandered any slight chance of equalising during the rest of the game.

Kilgetty 7 Prendergast Villa 0

Kilgetty were on top for the whole game and manager Andrew Cope had little to do in goal.

Ian Lewis scored the third before the interval with a move down the right, which he ended by deceiving the Villa 'keeper.

After Jamie Morgan completed his hat-trick, Lucas Gamble completed the scoring following a goalmouth scramble.

Ian Lewis had a steady game at right back and Anthony Bevan had an excellent all round game in midfield.

Reserve Division Two

Milford Athletic 9 Manorbier United 0

Six goals down at the interval, Manorbier United lifted their game in the second half and battled hard, restricting Athletic to just three more goals in the second half.

Andrew Davies netted four times for Milford Athletic, backed up by goals from Gavin Williams, Chris Thomason, Stannick, Absalom and Davidson.

St. Clears 2

Lawrenny 0

Lawrenny started with 10 men, as one of players was late in arriving. St. Clears took full advantage of the extra man and had the wind at their backs during the first half.

Colin Reynolds got the first goal and then had a stroke of fortune with his second goal when he shot from the edge of the box for the ball to rebound from the posts and be deflected into the back of the net off the head of the Lawrenny 'keeper.

When Lawrenny had 11 players on the park, play became more even and Lawrenny made it a lot tougher for the Saints.

The wind died down a little in the second half and both teams tried to play quality football. If St. Clears dominated the first half, Lawrenny regrouped in the second half to prevent any further scoring.

Goalkeeper Paul Dowling had a good game for Lawrenny, David McBean was solid at the back and Wayne Jones did a lot of running up front.

Reserve Division Two

Solva 8 Pendine 0

Solva took an early lead through William Chant and followed up with two more goals before the interval from Gwynant Watson and Roscoe Young.

Although Greg Reynolds pressed hard for Pendine, the Seagulls were unable to penetrate the Solva defence and Solva added five more goals in the second half, with Steve John completing a hat-trick, backed up by goals from James Griffin and Andrew Plant.

West Wales

Cup

(First Round)

Rhos 0 St. Clears 0

The Saints did well to force a replay in their match at Rhos against the Neath Premier League team after the match went into extra-time.

It was a tribute to the defensive qualities of the St. Clears team, with Nick Cogburn and Mark Snelling shining in defence, while the experienced Howard Pickersgill played out of his skin in goal.

The visitors came close to scoring in the first half, but a shot by Paul Edwards went just over the bar.

Templeton 2 Bishopston 6

The Division Three Swansea League outfit proved to be too strong for Templeton and came out on top, although Templeton took an early lead with a Beckhamesque style free-kick by Morgan Preece after just two minutes.

After holding the visitors at bay for the first 20 minutes of the game, the floodgates opened and Bishopston scored four times before the interval.

In the second half, the visitors scored two quick goals and then took the pedal off the gas.

Chris Frearson had the consolation of pulling back one goal for Templeton.

Wayne Scourfield had a good game in midfield for Templeton.

Narberth 2 YstRadgynlais 3

The young Swansea Valley team drew the best out of the Bluebirds and the result was in doubt until the closing stages of the second half when the Ystrad striker completed his hat-trick with a breakaway goal.

Ystrad took an early lead, but Wayne Howells equalised with a well-judged header after being put in position by Craig Hurst from a corner.

Ystrad extended the lead shortly before the interval when the ball was knocked back into the box after the Bluebirds had cleared from a corner.

In the second half, Narberth played some quality football and it came as no surprise when they equalised with a superb header by Raff Barnett from a corner.

Although both Wayne Howells and David Gillard went close to scoring for Narberth, the visitors had the last word with their breakaway goal to clinch the winner.

It was a good all round team performance by the Bluebirds, with Wayne Howells demonstrating his versatility by playing up front and the experienced Huw Davies pulling off some excellent saves in goal.

Kilgetty 7 Kingsbridge Colts 2

Kilgetty took control of this game in the second half when they dominated proceedings and made excellent use of their wind advantage.

It was a good overall team performance by Kilgetty who scored twice in the first half in reply to the two goals scored by the Swansea League team.

Mike Beynon continued his recent form by completing a hat-trick, backed up by two goals from Ollie Griffiths and others from Lee James and Mike Scale.

Carew 2

Bwlch Rangers 1

Carew started brightly and had a number of half chances before Richard Bullock scored the first goal.

The goal was the result of a pre-match policy to shoot from outside the box in the event of a half chance and Bullock's 20-yarder gave Carew the lead.

Bwlch Rangers from the Llanelli League were a tall physical side and came back strongly. However, Carew skipper Daryl John extended the lead for the home club with a tap-in from six yards after a cross by Paul Bullock had been headed through to John by Richard Bullock.

Unfortunately for Carew, a penalty was conceded just before the interval, which Steve Rees converted.

The second half was closely contested, with Rangers again coming at Carew strongly. Goalkeeper Ian Kerrison pulled off some terrific saves to prevent the visitors from equalising.

Carew had a number of half chances, but were unable to add to their first half score.

It was a good team effort by Carew, with Ian Kerrison outstanding in goal and Nick Shelmerdine playing well in midfield.

Manorbier United 2 Port Tennant Stars 7

This match was much more even than the final scoreline suggests and was not settled until extra-time, with scores level at two goals apiece until that extra-time period.

The visitors took the lead with a penalty after 25 minutes, but Manorbier equalised when Austin John netted from a goalmouth scramble before the interval.

After 15 minutes of the second half, James Nicholas hit a screaming left-foot shot from 25 yards to put Manorbier in front and for the rest of the half Manorbier were on top.

Paul Tennant equalised from a breakaway and the rest of the half was a typical cup-tie affair with chances at both ends, although Manorbier had most of the play.

At the start of the second half Manorbier centre half Terry George was issued with his second yellow card and Manorbier were forced to play with 10 men.

Two quick goals by the visitors caused Manorbier heads to drop and the Stars took full advantage to bring their tally to seven, although five of the goals were scored in extra-time when Manorbier were a player short.

Terry George had been the linchpin of the Manorbier team on the day and his departure left a very large gap to fill.
