Division One

Monkton Swifts 2 Carew 0

This game was an excellent advertisement for Pembrokeshire League Football with both teams producing quality play in an exciting yet goal less first half with a constant end-to-end flow of action.

In the second half, Carew were cold to start. The young Swifts' team soon took advantage and Mathew Price cut in from the right corner to lob the ball over the advancing Carew goalkeeper Ian Kerrison.

Shortly afterwards a penalty again converted by Mathew Price finished off the visitors and the only clear-cut opportunity for Carew was when Ceri Bradley came on up front and nearly scored with a lob from 20 yards.

Daryl John was effective for Carew at centre-half, Nick Shelmerdine had a good game in midfield and Neil Morgan marked danger man Dean Busby very tightly.

Prendergast Villa 0

Narberth 1

Narberth were made to work hard for their victory away to Prendergast Villa on a ground, which cramps their style of play.

The visitors took the lead with a goal after 20 minutes of the second half through David Gillard. It was created by Raff Barnett from midfield, taken on by Wayne Howells, before Gillard was released for one of his trademark runs and a cracking left-footed finish.

In the last 15 minutes, the Bluebirds were under pressure, but held out against a series of Villa attacks, through the efforts of James Stephens and Phillip Scourfield at the back together with solid play by goalkeeper Huw Davies.

Davey Johns played his first game in Division One since returning from Australia, whilst Raff Barnett and Charlie Smith were creative in midfield.

Tenby 1

Pennar Robins 3

Tenby are still finding it difficult to recapture the form of last season and a couple of key players have been missed.

Jack Christopher came close to giving Tenby the lead in the first-half, before the Robins conjured up a goal out of nothing by Wayne Brunton.

Player manager Gavin Scotcher almost scored for Tenby with a tremendous left-footed shot, which crashed against the bar. Anthony Griffiths was in support, but his shot was saved brilliantly by the Robins keeper.

In the first 20 minutes of the second half, Tenby enjoyed their best period of the game, but were put on the back-foot after a goal by Gideon Hocking.

Jack Christopher reduced the deficit with a cleverly disguised shot and Tenby threw caution to the winds in an effort to equalise.

The Robins were waiting to counter-attack and Hocking had a late goal from a breakaway.

Although disappointed manager Gavin Scotcher is not too downbeat. Speaking after the match he said: "Tenby should have played better, but it was a more encouraging performance. The boys are trying their best and training hard so that results will improve when we have a full squad fit again."

Dewi Davies had a good game back in action in goal.

Division Two

Manorbier 0

Mike Beynon gave Kilgetty the lead after 25 minutes, but excellent defence by the visitors prevented any more scoring in the first half.

Manorbier continued to defend well in the second half, but the defences crumbled after Grant James scored Kilgetty's second goal. In the end, three more goals followed, one by Darren Rossiter to the top corner and two more from Mike Beynon to complete his hat-trick.

Although it was a good team performance by Kilgetty, the scoreline was a little flattering on the day and the Manorbier players continued to give 100 per cent throughout.

For the visitors 16-years-old Jamie Nicholas played well on the right side of midfield, as did Phil Christopher at the back.

Lawrenny 0 Clarbeston Road 3

The first half was a very even affair and the visitors were a little fortunate to score their first goal, which resulted in an own goal by Lawrenny from a corner.

In the second half, Clarbie gradually got on top and Lawrenny's tired legs told in the end when Clarbie picked up two late goals in the last 10 minutes. Both came from the boot of Ben Skudder, who had an excellent game for the visitors.

Although Lawrenny lost, manager Andrew Cole, said: "The boys played really well and it was a much improved performance to give us something to work on over the next few weeks."

Steve Campbell was prominent up front for Lawrenny, Stephen Lewis was all action in midfield and Stephen Cole played well in goal.

Pendine 1 St. Clears 3

In the local derby at Pendine, an excellent team performance by the Saints resulted in St. Clears having a comfortable win.

The visitors struck twice in the first-half with the goals from Sam Thomas and Paul Edwards.

The Seagulls reduced the deficit with a goal from Shaun Lynch, but a penalty by Eddie Wiggins put the result beyond doubt.

For the Seagulls it was a disappointing result after a below par performance, but the Saints raised their game on the day.

Diean Glynn and Kris Stone were prominent in midfield and Diean Glynn kept a close watch on Pendine danger man Justin Blewitt.

Division Three

St. Florence 7

St. Davids City 2

St. Florence were on top for most of the match and were two goals up after 13 minutes following a header by Mathew Jones and a shot by Scott Smith.

City came back with a goal by Guy before the interval.

In the second half, Scott Smith completed his hat-trick with a goal and a penalty and then the visitors fought back with a goal from Walsh.

However, three more goals by Phillip Evans, Stuart Adams and Jamie Roberts respectively opened up a five-goal gap for St. Florence over the visitors, which was preserved until the end of the game.

St. Florence might have scored eight, but unfortunately Stuart Adams was off target with a penalty attempt with the last kick of the game.

Jeremy Phillips had an excellent game in goal for St. Florence playing in that position for the first time for awhile and Jeff Evans was solid at centre half.

Templeton 3 Pembroke United 0

Remarkably all of Templeton's goals came in the first 10 minutes. Before the players had settled in to position Jamie Bradfield had given Templeton the lead and he scored his second five minutes later from the edge of the box.

Wayne Scourfield completed the scoring when he converted a penalty.

Although Templeton dominated the game they failed to take all of their chances, although in the second half Wayne Scourfield hit the bar and hit the posts, whilst Jamie Bradfield came close to completing his hat-trick.

Morgan Preece, Wayne Scourfield and Dave Lewis formed an effective unit in midfield for Templeton and player manager Nigel Thomas lasted the pace playing for the whole match as a sweeper.

The players were encouraged by the large number spectators present on the day.

Reserve Division One

Carew 2

Hakin United 5

Two early strikes by the Vikings sent Carew rocking, but Rob Scourfield playing in his first game of the season as sweeper put in some crucial tackles during the first 20 minutes to stop the flow.

The first goal came from Nick Thomas who beat two players before playing a one too with Adam Bayjoo and then put the ball in the back of the net.

Adam Bayjoo scored the second from outside the 18-yard box, but with five minutes of the first half remaining Jamie Watkins replied with a goal for Carew.

An equaliser by Jamie Watkins at the start of the second half put Carew back in the game. After being fed by Neil Morgan, Watkins ran down the right and took on two defenders before putting a left-footed shot into the bottom corner.

However, Adam Bayjoo came back within minutes to restore the lead for the visitors and then completed a hat-trick, before Nick Thomas scored Hakin's fifth goal with a right-footed curling shot from a direct free kick.

Despite the result, manager Jeremy Griffiths was pleased with the way that the players fought back after being two goals down early on in the game.

Goodwick United 2 Saundersfoot

Sports 0

Saundersfoot Sports travelled to Goodwick United and the teams were evenly matched during the first half, although Kristian Geissinger gave Goodwick the lead after 20 minutes.

The visitors remained in the game, but could not find the back of the net despite numerous chances.

Saundersfoot continued to apply pressure during the second half, even after Steven Rowe had extended the lead for Goodwick. Whilst everyone battled hard and more chances were created, goals were elusive on the day.

Herbrandston 4 Kilgetty 1

Kilgetty travelled to Herbrandston and were on the back foot for the first 15 minutes finding it difficult to get out of their own half.

Herbie took the lead through an own goal when the ball was deflected from a corner after hitting the bar, the back post and the back of the head of Kilgetty keeper Dave Lewis!

Barry Ormond and Adam Thorne both came close to scoring for Kilgetty, before Justin Goffin benefited from a defensive mix-up when he nipped in to score from a long ball over the top.

In the second half, Ben Hughes came close to scoring twice before Wayne Phillips put Herbie three goals up, but Ben Hughes clawed one back for Kilgetty with a superb opportunistic goal.

A penalty by Peter Frank for Herbie completed the scoring for the afternoon.

Herbie's three goals advantage might have been eroded in the last 10 minutes as Kilgetty had three one on one chances against the Herbie 'keeper and Barry Ormond missed out on a penalty opportunity.

It was a case of 'what might have been' for the visitors for whom Anthony Bevan was outstanding, with Allan Williams using his experience in midfield and Dave Lewis playing soundly in goal, despite the scoreline.

Merlins Bridge 5 Tenby 1

Tenby were away to Merlins Bridge and went down by four goals, with Jimmy Cowan being the only scorer for the visitors who conceded five goals, following scoring efforts by Mathew Morrisey, Rice, Sean Evans and Sean Halpin.

Narberth 3 Prendergast Villa 2

Narberth had the better of this closely fought encounter at home to the Villa who opened the scoring through Ben Evans.

The experienced Nigel Thomas replied for the Bluebirds with a header after a cross by Chris Morris. Unfortunately for Narberth some slip shod defending resulted in Ben Evans picking up his second goal shortly before the interval.

In the second half Narberth attacked continuously, but the breakthrough took 30 minutes to achieve when Jonathan Marsden put player manager Adrian Howells though for Howells to equalise.

The Bluebirds kept pressing for a victory and Nigel Thomas unsettled the Villa goalkeeper with a cracking shot from a corner by Angelo Edwards and Chris O'Connell was on hand to tap the ball in.

It was a very good team effort with 17-year-old Chris Morris showing up well in midfield, Angelo Edwards ran his heart out, and there were other good performances from Nigel Thomas and Nigel Davies.

Reserve Division Two

St. Clears 8 Pendine 1

For the first 20 minutes there was little to choose between the two teams in this local derby, but when the Saints got on top the Seagulls were unable to get back into the game.

The Saints scored four goals in the first half, with two being scored by Clive Reynolds and the others being scored by Marcus Leefe and James Carnell. The visitors clawed back one goal through Wesley Reynolds.

In the second half, the Saints again had most of the play and the Seagulls were unable to play a catch up game.

Clive Reynolds completed his hat-trick and there were goals for Mel Lewis and David Phillips. The last goal came from the penalty spot and was scored by Jonathan Pearson.

Joe Robinson and Robert Phillips dominated the air at the back whilst James Carnell and Marcus Leefe showed up well in midfield, with substitute Jason Baxter having a good game on his return to league action following an injury.

For the visitors, Mike Williams netted four times, Brian Mathias and Billy Rob had two goals each and there was also a goal for Geraint Matthias.

Neyland 9 Lawrenny 1

Promotion searching Neyland dominated their home game against Lawrenny, who were only able to score one goal through Steve Gunn.
