TWO young local Irish Dancing sensations are hoping to take their recent success a step further by travelling to Ireland in April to compete in the Open Championships. Back in November, Danielle and Ben Turner, of Vineyard Vale, Saundersfoot, competed in the Irish Dancing Regional Championship which was held in Port Talbot. It was the first time the event had been held in Wales for four years, so both children were keen to practice hard every day, determined to qualify for the Open Championships. Not only did 12-year-old Danielle qualify, but she was awarded the highest marks possible from all three adjudicators, becoming the Under 14s Regional Champion, while nine-year-old Ben, who was competing in the competition for the first time, managed to come third. Their mother is naturally delighted by their achievement. "All I would like to say is a big congratulations to them, as I know they worked so hard to get this far," said Mrs. Turner, who is hoping to raise sponsorship for the children to travel to Ireland to take part in the Open Championships.
