LOCAL county councillor Jonathan Preston has recently been appointed Pembrokeshire County Council’s ambassador to the Armed Forces.

Clr. Preston, a former cadet at Tenby’s 1284 ATC Sqn and Royal Air Force serviceman, said: “I’m very pleased to have been appointed for this role by new council leader David Simpson.

“I have a particular interest in veterans who may be struggling to cope with resettlement into civilian life, especially if they have been engaged in military conflict.

“It is early days yet, but I have already had the pleasure of meeting some truly inspirational people who have come together to create support networks for ex- service men and women.

“I look forward to meeting the commanding officers of Pembrokeshire’s military units in due course, and I hope to build on the well established positive community relations we have with our Armed Forces locally,” added the county councillor for Penally.
